I kinda feel bad for the 6'6 Small forward UK commit. He was having such a great High School senior year. Then commits to one of the top basketball programs. Then gets hurt. Now UK is recruiting over him. poor kid will never get a chance to see any playing time.

I mean I think the plan will be for him to redshirt if he's not healthy enough to go....which is why UK is looking for more depth.

#2...I think he knows as a lower 4-star recruit that he's going to be having to go against the top recruits every year...he's seen it and made the decision to play at the school he dreamed playing at...

Idk why you'd feel sorry for him, I doubt he expected to come in and play day 1.

Don't sell Dontaie Allen short. The fact that he's UK's lowest rated recruit means nothing. Tyler Herro was our lowest rated recruit in our 2018 class & he was our best freshman. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was only our 7th highest rated recruit in UK's 2017 class, and he was arguable UK's best player. Same with you guys. Your highest rated recruit is not always your best recruit.

He isn't being recruited over. Allen is as good as anyone else coming in.

He may be unbelievable, I don’t know I’ve never seen him play other than YouTube. But I do know this, he played in an absolute crap area of the state - and that’s a fact. He also shot it a ton. His team was absolutely garbage without him.

Put him in Jefferson County in the 6th or 7th region and how does he do? Probably still really well but those stats would shrink because he would have better teammates that would also merit shots, etc and the competition would be much, much better.

? The whole point of recruiting is to upgrade talent. What team is looking for a lesser player?

No he's not. This isn't RR. You don't have to be a complete homer.

Any of KyKy, DJ, and DA could've scored 40 on that Pendleton Co. team. They had a losing overall record after he got hurt, which goes to show that the offense was completely ran through him. He had to drop 40 for his team to even have a chance. Anyone with a lick of talent could score 40 against the talent he played against and the offensive system he was in. His teammates clearly weren't good.

But I'm not arguing his talent, obviously he is good. We're arguing the "he's as good as anyone else coming in" part. That isn't even remotely true and you know it. If he were, then he'd be a 5* McDAA and projected in the '20 NBA draft like a few others.

I believe this young man is a good player but he really isn’t the best player in the state. He will be red shirted simply to allow for the time for him to get his injury fully healed. He would start for Trinity but he wouldn’t even be the best player on that HS team.

Ya'll may be right but I was also talking within reason. I think DA is good enough that he cant be viewed as automatically being recruited over. With his injuries, it is smart to plan for him not to play next year.

He is already being recruited over. Pushing hard for Cunningham, Green, and Brakefield.

Dense in what way? You are simply wrong and don’t want to see it.
It don’t matter. It isn’t hard to understand why UK is his dream school. You know, there are such things as kids we dream of. And being on a UK roster was the dream Allen was able to achieve.

Nothing wrong with that. But the guy is trying to convince himself that Allen is as good as the other recruits coming in. That is simply wrong by everyone’s account except his.

So did brad Calimari, so it’s not really a big deal.

Within reason, he is. The primary point though is that he isnt simply being recruited over. He is good enough to not be blindly recruited over but he is fighting thru a major injury

With the way he was playing before getting injured I'd think he would've gotten a ratings jump. So who knows where he could've actually ended up being ranked.

The primary point is he is being recruited over. He will be the lowest rated recruit at his position this coming year and in years to come. That is the clear definition of being recruited over.

And this is the reason why I started this post. Ever since Dontaie Allen committed to UK ,Calipari has been recruiting over him. As he did today with another 6'6 forward, Johny Juzang

I like this Donkey kid, he can talk about Ky stuff without being a total schmuck like Big Blew Ga.
