Turn signals, also sometimes referred to as "blinkers" are useful tools to give a polite heads up to other drivers as to which way you intend to go. For example, while at a four way intersection, or, in another example, just before you change lanes on Tates Creek Road or New Circle Road. On my car, for instance, they are located on the right side of the steering column.

Thank you for your time, this public service announcement is now complete.

-tip 3: speed limits exist for a reason...do not endanger others because you can't keep your sh*t together and are running late.
Especially if it's raining. A couple of months ago I was traveling south on US-1 and in the midst of a patented south Florida downpour. The speed limit was 45. I was trundling along at 40. I always glance at my mirrors every 15-20 seconds to see what's coming up from behind, and I see a car that is coming up fast on my left. About 10 seconds later, a Mercedes is blowing by me, probably traveling at 65+. It clears me by maybe 10 feet and starts to hydroplane, doing a 180, slides off the road, goes airborne, gets on its side in the air before coming down right side up with a thud in a deep, grassy culvert. Drive reasonably within the speed limit, and if it's raining, slow the touch down.

The interstates in Louisville may as well be the autobahn. You'll sometimes see a cop out during afternoon commute, and every now and then they'll put a half dozen cars out during that commute in one spot ticketing people left and right. But any other time, it's a free for all. Yesterday I was sitting in the 2nd lane from the right on 4-lane 264 (don't want to be in the far right with people merging on and off) going 70 in a 55 and cars were FLYING by me. Had people buzzing past me on both sides yesterday cutting in and out around everybody.

Louisville is short roughly 300 cops thanks to Mayor McBike-Lanes' and the Metro council's anti police actions during and after the Briona Taylor protests. More police are retiring/leaving each year than the city can recruit. Police on the local interstates are now unicorns.

Blinker fluid is very expensive these days with inflation and whatnot.

Don't pick your phone up when driving or at a stop light. Makes me insane to watch someone pick it up and then the light turn green and they are chillin on their phone causing others to miss the light. Being on the phone while driving therefore going 30-75-23-68-15 in the span of a mile is about as annoying as can be.
That's why I am never hesitant to use my horn to remind these inconsiderate a-holes to put down their phones. It's time to go.

Lets say im pullin out of Marriot Golf Course. Im turning right and waiting on the right lane going towards 75 to be clear. Do not change lanes from the left to the right lane going 70 through the intersection. I may be pulling out because the right lane is totally clear...now as i pull out into the clear right lane you are crossing into the right lane. Do not change lanes going through intersections.

That's one of the first things I taught my daughter when she was learning how to drive. That, and how to merge into traffic.

You should never turn right on red on that light anyway. If I see your car pulling out, I am getting in the right lane and knocking your Yugo into the hotel parking lot.

Don’t make wide left turns. Even if you have the left green turn signal. There may be drivers that want to take their right on red turn in front of you as well.

Be sure to pass me on the right. I am always expecting it. Especially motorcycles...in bicycle lanes...at great speed...as we approach my turn...to the right.

Corollary rule is motorcyclists who think it is cool to weave in and out of the left and right lanes between cars at 40 or 50 MPH, sometimes right on the dividing line between two cars, just to be bold and daring. And the motorcyclists that do this are 90% chance of not wearing a helmet. Probably why I read about a motorcyclist getting killed or severely injured about twice a week.

Or the guys on bikes that ride side by side and one of them get's on top of the center line as a show of force or whatever. I drive a 3/4 ton truck so I highly doubt he wins if we play chicken. Just never understood that move.

You probably are talking about motorcycles but I ride a regular bike at least once a week, Sunday did a 30 mile ride, but could not agree with you more. Idiots that ride their bicycles out Keene Pike when the road goes up and down hill, you can be driving the speed limit and come up over a hill right behind 2 or 3 bikers side by side and never see them until you are right on top of them, amazed more of them don't get creamed.

Yeah, I was thinking more about motorcycles on 2 lane roads hugging the middle line but bikes also can be an issue in that case. I don't make it a habit of assuming everyone else has my best intentions at heart and will not drive like idiots. Lol

Tip #4: Please wait when you see a LEFT MUST YIELD sign. That means the traffic coming from the opposite way has the right of way to come through straight across or turn right.

Thanks in advance!

I don't even like driving my vehicles on Keene Road.

We used to ride a lot, but mostly used the Rails to Trails paths. There's just too many people driving distracted or under the influence. Loved the New River Trail in Southwest Virginia which runs from Fries to Pulaski along the the New River. Very scenic.

Allegedly they're going to run the Legacy Trail all the way to Georgetown but it dead ends at the Scott County line right now. Of course I've been hearing that for 3 or 4 years now. Supposedly, Scott County is in the process of acquiring all the easements. As an aside, should have put a bike trail in when they widened Paris Pike 20 years ago, would be a stellar ride through primo horse country.

The distillery trail is supposed to go all the way out to Leestown Pike through Manchester and should be done in 2 years though
