DT Chris Williams dismissed from team

Williams was arrested for stealing money from 3 teammates. Pretty sad and crazy stuff.

From a football perspective this is a loss in an area where the team was already woefully short on depth. It seems like juco guys can have a decent ceiling of talent but oftentimes bring a lot of baggage with them.

Agreed, but it looks like we have more OL just by sheer numbers.

OL's just don't have the mindset of DL's from jump. Different training. Different philosophy. Different type of FB player thanks to platooning in HS.

Howard Schnellenberger, who knows more about it than any of us, said as much.

He never recruited an OL. Recruited all DL's and converted the ones who weren't going to make the D.

Said DL's had the natural mean streak, physical, usually quick with some footwork.

Said if you recruit an OL who can't cut it...you have nothing.

We're looking for excuses but the one maybe I give more creedance to is the one that says LJ was battling turf toe the last two games. Turf toe is very painful.
