I hope to participate in some NU activities in Dublin. This trip may appeal to NU fanatics but I will pass. There are 3 rounds of golf-Portstewart-great front nine , pedestrian back nine. Ardglass- never made my rotation on 12 trips to Ireland. The Island -my favorite course in Dublin area-a true fair links from start to finish. My self arranged trip to Ireland for 8 in October included:
1. 15 days 14 nights-all breakfasts / 3 team dinners
2. Luxury Coach
3. Excellent Hotels-Doonbeg, Rosapenna, Temple Bar etc
4. 12 rounds of golf at the best courses in Ireland-Doonbeg, Lahinch. Ballybunion(2), Rosapenna (3), Portrush , Enniscrone, Portsalon, Ballyliffin, The Island
5. 5 nights in Dublin
6. Pro 15 Rugby Game
7. Cost $3750-4000(some left 1-2 days early)

There was always low likelihood that I would go, but, anyway, I will be returning from a wedding in Bosnia ~22nd and can't spend the extra week nor return for the game.

I understand, sort of, why we schedule gimmick games like this one or Wrigley, but I get back to Evanston so infrequently that I'd just as soon go to Ryan Field. In about 5 years, I plan to retire and move to Milwaukee area to be near family. Then, finally, STH

That was an itinerary. Loved The Island when we played there on my last trip over. Our tour guide, Jimmy O'Leary, convinced the cook to stay for us and we had dinner of salmon or steak for the 8 of us (including Jimmy) by ourselves in the dining room after our round.

I'd be careful with this one. Northwestern is protective about having exclusive vendors for its travel packages, including game tickets. This one doesn't look to be affiliated with the university (e.g. WildCats"). Not saying that these six former players are having their names used without their permission, but I'm curious how this travel agency is procuring game tickets for their offered trip packages.

Bob Christian is promoting it himself - although maybe that’s part of the deal. And Nebraska has a similar package with this company but who knows.

Bob Christian was the best pure fullback in the NFL for a few years. But he lost out on the Pro Bowl and all-NFL teams due to Mike Alstott being incorrectly labeled as a FB and getting the honors over him.

The NAA sent an email out recently clarifying that a trip package being promoted by a former player (presumably this one by Bob Christian) was not affiliated with Northwestern and that tickets allocated to NU were only available for sale through the university and its travel agency. I assume Bob's group has obtained tickets from some source, though doubt it's through NU.

Hopefully there’s enough demand to fill both.

If Bob Christian’s group has equivalent or better tickets, I bet that would be the more fun of the two.
