I'm in sales, I was at a Public Works trade show in Mississippi this week and Duece was there, he is working in marketing for some waste management company. Anyway, I went over and introduced myself, told him I was an Oklahoma Sooner, and we got to talking about the 1999 Independence Bowl in Shreveport. I said Duece, you broke my heart in that game, we couldn't do much to stop you. And he said, yeah, but you guys won the NC the next year. Of course I had to agree with him. :) Anyway, great guy, very personable, he chatted with everybody that came up to him. There's about a 10 minute video on Youtube of that game. Very entertaining, even though we lost. You could tell from watching it, great things were a brewin' for 2000.

And you know, Baker could learn something from watching Josh during that period. Josh would escape the pocket, but he will still look downfield to pass, instead of trying to run it. Much more easy on the body that way.

I remember that game, didn't they return a squib kick after OU took the lead with under a minute left? (Great field position to start) Or was there a penalty ?

I've still never seen that game. Didn't it finish at like 1a on New Year's Day?
I love Sooner football, but I believe I was a 22 year old beer drinking and panty chasing college student. New Years festivities usurped football priorities. After hearing that we lost, I saw no reason to go back and watch.
I'll have to check out that YouTube highlight video.

We went to the game. It did not end late. We stayed in the parking lot afterwards a little while to celebrate Y2K and see if the power grids went down and if we were in electronic purgatory.

Pretty late. It was the last game of 1999, and the first game of 2000.

I guess late is relative.

Yeah, it was after midnight EST.
Officially the first game of 2000.

In ATL, it was past midnight when the game ended. My wife was pissed at me because I would not come outside to light fireworks until the game was over.

I think McAlister had a pretty decent career as a New Orleans Saint.

Haha was a little foggy ,goung back to new years eve 99. I remember now turning off the TV before Ole Miss Kicked that field goal. Wish the seniors went out on a better note after the previous 3 years. They laid the foundation though.

Actually, we had a former OU player that posted here, and was on the 2000 team with the moniker 'Deuce'.
However he got the handle by deep snapping over the punters head, resulting in a safety for the other team.
