Just out of curiosity can anyone tell me when tickets go on sale for 2018? I want to buy a package like hotel and tickets. Any info would help. My wife and I have wanted to go to Maui for a few years, this is the perfect set up. Thanks

Good call. Maui is outstanding. My wife and I went for the in invitational in 2007 when Kyle and Nolan were freshman. Kyle put us on his back in the championship game against Marquette.

I remember that game!

It is the perfect setup. We went for 11 days...which was perfect being that the excitement of basketball was about five days and then we have another four or five days to relax.

I think we booked in January (10 months before the trip). I'm not sure where you're located but there's also the option of taking Duke's charter from RDU if you're an Iron Duke. That made no sense for us coming from Minnesota....besides, the Duke charter will arrive two days before the tournament starts and they're on a plane for home less than 10 hours after the final buzzer sounds. It's a business trip.

We just called the Duke basketball office before we booked and found out where they were staying so we could book there too. My wife and I were actually staying on the same floor as the coaches and their families.

It's a great trip and I encourage anyone to take it....I know we're going back in '18 and will probably even bring the kids along this time.

Thinking about taking the whole family in '18. Will use these tips! I recall there was a package through the school in which travel, tixx, lodging & gameday buses were included. Would love to pull this off!

Correct....it can all be one package. We used our Iron Duke status to be included for the busing and lodging (at the team hotel), but it was more cost-effective for us to go through the Maui Invitational for tickets and traveling.

I've only been to Hawaii once. Did 4 nights on Oahu and 4 nights on Maui. Maui is ridiculously beautiful. We did a 1200' parasail with UFO Parasail out of Lahaina. OMG! You simply cannot miss this opportunity if you are in Lahaina. We watched humpback whales below in the pristine crystal blue waters. Words can't even describe it. We did the sunrise atop Haleakala then biked from the top to the ocean, amazing. We did a chauffeured glass sided van tour on the road to Hana. We saw Pearl Harbor, snorkeled, DiamondHead, wine tasting, North Shore, Pipeline, Jaws, just incredible. What I'm getting at, unless you've been to Hawaii several times, no matter how much you love Duke, it would be difficult for me to sit inside a gym and stay focused on a tournament there. It's like walking around in heaven.
