Never too early to start gabbing about our next opponent, the Indigo Lucifers of Duke.

First point of order: Duke has the best name in college football on its roster. Ladies and gentlemens, meet Memorable Factor.

Indeed, he is memorable. His bio states:

"PRIOR TO DUKE: Member of the rowing and rugby team at Eton College, which is a boarding school for boys in Windsor, United Kingdom … garnered national medals in rugby and was tabbed a two-time gold and silver nationalist in rowing."

It also states that his parents are Mallory and Elizabeth Factor. I am pretty sure that's a lie. With a name like that, he is probably an offspring of Elon Musk.

As for the rest of the football team, we will get into that. But from 30,000 ft, we can say this about Duke:
- Rebuilding after firing longtime QB guru head coach David Cutliffe on the heels of a 3-9 season where they whiffed in conference play
- Gone are guys who tormented us last year: QB Gunnar Holmberg (transfer), RB Mataeo Durant (NFL), WR Jake Bobo (UCLA), and S Jeremiah Lewis (meow).
- Starting a young QB, likely Riley Leonard. Though expect to see some of Jordan Moore, a dual-threat QB who played a bit against NU last year.
- They have an experienced offensive line
- They are not totally devoid of talent. Phil Steele named 7 Duke players to his preseason all ACC team (Defensive back Jaylen Stinson was named to the first team as a kickoff return specialist, while linebacker Shaka Heyward was tabbed to the second team. Offensive lineman Graham Barton, defensive lineman DeWayne Carter and punter Porter Wilson were selected to the third team with offensive lineman Jacob Monk and long snapper Evan Deckers earning fourth team nods to round out the group.)

That's it for now. We should know a bit more after Temple

I'm going to the Temple @ Duke game on Friday night to check these guys out.

They've got former NU coaches Kevin Johns (offensive coordinator) and Adam Cushing (run game coordinator and offensive line coach).

Backup QB Jordan Moore has been taking snaps at WR. They'll have a bunch of familiar faces from last year, including Jalon Calhoun and Eli Pancol at WR and DeWayne Carter and Shaka Heyward on defense.

Temple also has a new head coach.

There should be some familiar names for Cat fans. We were a finalist for recruit Eli Pancol (WR, should play some). We offered the aforementioned DeWayne Carter. OT John Gelotte, DT Ja'Mion Franklin, and DE RJ Oben were also NU offers.

Jeremiah Lewis left the Dark Side to join the Cats (thanks 381)

(GoKatz I was writing as you were posting)

There is actually a player named "Bumper Pool," which has my vote for best name. I like Boogie Knight too.

Amazing, Elko has released an actual depth chart, on page 9 here:

I'm jealous!

They have a true freshman starting at DE, Vincent Anthony, who was a 4* recruit. They may have another true freshman starting at CB, Chandler Rivers, who's an "or." Lots of veterans on the offensive line.
So Skoronski will be going up against a true freshman? And you’re jealous of them?

I’m going to try and watch their game against Temple. And I hope we mash and gash them to end their winning streak against us.

Bobo is at UCLA. Don’t forget about DB Lewis who had a pick against us….. he’s at NU.

I don't know which side of the line he'll be on, but I'm jealous because they got a depth chart, not because of a freshman DE.

At this point, I pretty much know what the depth chart would look like, but it's still fun to see it, especially the first one of the season.

Memorable Factor is a ,,, memorable name. But not as famous as his brother, Fear.
