All go down! So we're basically in fine position still in the conference. We have the most talent now let's get the chemistry figured out!

Exhibit A that the ACC is REALLY tough.

Thank you. Those thinking this was a breeze year I hope you see what's going here. Basketball is uber competitive right now, and Duke happens to be in turmoil at a not so great time. They'll get it turned around.

I just think Duke needs to get it together before they end up with a bunch of double digit losses to lesser opponents.

But the ACC is gonna be a battle for the top spots.

GT and BC are at home. Those are should wins. The litmus test for this team comes if they can beat FSU away. I don't even care if they lose to Louisville the next game, beating this FSU squad in a place that has historically given Duke fits will be a big factor in showing what kind of cajones this team has.

I just want to see things trending in a positive direction. I can handle a few conference losses if our team starts passing the eye test. Right now we are losing and we look awful which is obviously concerning. Remarkable after the UNLV and Florida games that this team could have fallen off so much so quickly. But again we just need to see this team progressing and I'll be much happier

I don't really know what to think. I'm glad UNC and UVA lost, but after the way we played it doesn't mean a whole to me. Duke wasn't even somewhat competitive today. That's alarming, and I don't care how much you sugarcoat things.

-Without Grayson we have one shooter. Matt has struggled all season with his shot, and Frank and Jayson, while adequate and capable shooters, just aren't consistent one's.

-We don't have a point guard. Not even a semblance of one. I thought before the season with our talent we might be able to hide it. We can't.

-Communication and cohesiveness....nothing more to be said.

-Injuries and stupidity. Injuries have certainly hindered this team's progress, and that's reality. It not making excuses. It's reality. Also, Grayson's brain fart and subsequent meltdown have set them back more.

Talent alone should result in 12 or 13 conference wins....because there are going to be games where we look awfully good. That said, I really question whether or not this team can ever be great. It just seems there's too much going against them.

I'm def. going to wait and see....to many injuries and not enough of the practicing that they need to be doing. We are in conference play now...practices will be limited much more so going forward than what could have been developed in the fall..

My eyes and gut tell me we are in big trouble and that this team isn't going to be close to what we thought....but we have Coach K and if there is a way to get this thing together he can do it...so I think there is potential down the road.....I Hope!

This game reminded me of the 2013 Duke at Miami game when Duke was ranked #1.

Dido. The fact that you guys lost means jack to me because we couldn't beat a piss poor GT team. This is going to be a topsy turvy year in the ACC. You guys had a bad game, but damn we were equally disgraceful.

Loss at Ga tech is much worse than at Va tech. Not even close.

I don't know....both are pretty alarming if you're a fan of either team. Look at it this way from our perspective....we weren't even somewhat competitive. The game wasn't in single-digits the last 32 minutes. At no point did we even make a mini-run.

A problem with our shooters is that we have too many volume scorers and not enough spot scorers. A volume scorer is used to getting 20 shots per game and can shoot themselves into a groove. A spot scorer has the ability to pick his spots wait for the open shot which may only come a handful times per game, but can knock down those open shots with consistency. Matt was the guy I was excited about mixing into our lineups because I thought he would carry his solid shooting numbers from last year into this year. So far that is not the case.

We have so much talent on offense that I really am not concerned that we will get it figured out and will be scoring in the 80's consistently by year's end. Defense is where my real concern lies. We look awful and that is putting it nicely. Either these kids need to be taught better or they need to work harder but right now the final product is unacceptable. V tech shot well but we didn't contest a single thing yesterday. They weren't running 30 second sets and finding an easy shot late, they were getting easy looks 5-10 seconds into their offensive set. That was alarming.

We need rim protectors plain and simple. I like many get frustrated when Jeter comes in because the fan in me wants to see Giles or Bolden getting those minutes. Jeter has had no major injuries to deal with and has had 2 years to figure it out and still appears a step slow. I think he can be productive at the back end of his career but right now I am not seeing his value. Again I am the uninformed fan sitting on my couch rather than watching these kids in practice on a daily basis but I have much more confidence in Harry and Marques figuring it out by year's end than Chase. Harry and Marques are both timid right now which comes from a combination of low confidence and anxiety about re-injury. The only way they can get better is to stay on the floor. Again if we had better options I would be fine making them earn those minutes but right now I don't think chase is providing much.

Maybe this is cherry picking, but how come UVA's newbies come In and pick up the defensive scheme and can play team D, but Duke's cannot?

Luckily it is conference play which means less practices. You figure out how to play and what will really work much better in games than a practice. It sucks that you have to take a few losses along the way, but no matter how hard you try practice will never simulate a game. Especially the you g guys, they need to learn fast not over the course of weeks of mundane practice. It's trial by fire, and I believe they have the talent to learn at that speed.

Teams like UVA typically have one, maybe two, newbies in a given year. They're often playing with guys who are third- and fourth-year players too. On top of that, you're talking about two completely different systems and types of players. That would be my best guess.

Yep. Far be it to say, the pack line defense is easier to play than passing lane/switch D. No excuse, just an easier scheme that works very well with a snail's tempo but not so well in a fast paced system. K won't sacrifice the scoring to play that D. It can work, as we have the athletes and quickness for it (Jayson has really taken to it), it's gonna take buy in though. Also teams drive much more with their 1-5 than they did when K made that defense famous, so something on Duke's needs to adapt.

I can see that.. that ga tech team though may be the worst they've had in years and that's saying something. And I think va tech is pretty good this year and it's a tough place to play. But yes certainly not either programs finest moment.
