Usually the NYC game is reserved for Christmas, but this year we’re headed up to the Garden for the final game of the 2K Empire Classic against Cal.

Both teams enter the game at 4-0, Dukes toughest game of course being KU and Cal’s was arguably UNLV. We have three more games before the big ACC/Big Ten matchup game at Michigan State.

Cal is really still rebuilding after a down year last year. Duke is a heavy favorite in tonight’s game as we currently sit at -19.5. I’m not sure we will cover, but it’ll be close.

Tonight’s game is slated for a 9pm est tip and will air on ESPN2.

Duke by 2 touchdowns and one 2-point conversion. And can we get Tre a helmet or something. He plays with his head too much

I really think the "D" will be locked in early tonight, and the kids will be ready to play. As always with a young team, you never know what to expect, so with that being said, Duke by 12-13.

Go Duke!

The last time we played Cal was in the second round of the NCAAT in Jacksonville. My buddy and I were drinking a beer in the dirt lot outside the arena and Kyrie Irving parked next to us. He had his arm around a girl and winked at me as I said hello. I wasn’t following recruiting much back then but I recognized who he was about 5 seconds after he walked by. I told my buddy (not a Duke fan) that he was supposed to be pretty good but not as good as the Black Falcon...who I was still sore over.

What a huge change of circumstances we had that year. From UNC dominating and winning titles, us losing recruits all over the place, and having an alarmingly unathletic squad—-then, to winning 82-50, natty #4, recruiting ramping up like crazy, Kyrie turning into a superstar, winning #5, 1000 wins, and getting basically any recruit we wanted.

Everytime I see Cal, I close my eyes, go back to that game, wish I had asked Kyrie for an autograph, and picture Oski Bear in his cardigan dancing around on the sideline as we dominated on our way back to restoring order.

Looking forward to tonight and reliving those memories.

Traffic will be tough for the OG’s to get $$$ to the refs so they’ll make us sweat a little early.

Good memory. I believe former Duke player Jamal Boykin was on that Cal team.

It's pretty dramatic how things changed in such a short time. UNC and Roy were seemingly winning everything....they dominated us head-to-head, won two natty's in five years and played in three Final Four's, and then the real kick in the nuts (at the time) was losing Barnes to them in the fall of '09. I'm not sure I've ever seen the Duke fan base at such a low spot when the latter happened. Little did we know at the time, but the next six years were going to be a complete role reversal.

Hope we dont have a sluggish start like the last two games, but as long as they win I'm good with that.
