If this isn't a great early-season matchup I don't know what is. Not a lot of love lost between Kentucky and Duke - we'll leave it at that.

This is going to be a very, very tough matchup for us. I'm not really sure what I think of our team yet. I think we've got great back court talent and great senior leadership, rebounding and defense in the front court. We lack a polished scoring big in the front court, however. That may cost us in games like tonight's against teams that have size.

That being said, in all of my years of starting gameday threads I've never picked against Duke. I'm not starting now!!!

Tonight's game is slated for a 7:30pm est tip and will air on ESPNHD. I'm not going to be able to watch this one live so if you've got my cell number don't text me anything about the game haha - I've got to watch it later!!!!

GO DUKE!!!!!!!

Cat fan here. I think this one is a toss up. Lots of young guys on both sides. It will be interesting how they all play for the first time on the big stage. I think both backcourts are great and could put on a show. What do you all think that Duke needs to do in defending UK. I'm nervous about your perimeter shooting. Curious to see how Skal does if Coach K has your guys get physical with him. I don't know if he will show it tomorrow night but this kid has a shooting touch that's odd to see with a kid almost 7ft tall. Looking forward to the clash of these two titans. It still pains me that they didn't meet in the title game. I'm sure the ratings would have been through the roof.

The problem with shooting touch is that it's here today, gone tomorrow. If Skal is hot, it's a long day for Duke. If not, tough for UK. Murray and Briscoe are who worries me most. Gotta force Ulis into mistakes too.

This will be a classic one team goes up big early, the other team comes back, things are even, then one team pulls away down the stretch. Whoever wins, wins by 7. I'm guessing it'll be UK.

Good lord if we lose the over/under on "this team is just not that special" posts will be set at 12, and I can start naming names. hahaha.

I honestly don't know if I can watch it. I said I wasn't after that crap Patriots-Giants game. Sports makes me bipolar or something. I go high to low or low to high in a matter of seconds. I don't if my heart can take the stress of it much more. But it's Duke basketball, I'll try to keep my expectations tempered and remember it's early and if they lose it'll be a learning experience. The worse thing about a loss is the idiot Tarheel fans the next day.

Let's be honest- nobody knows who is going to win. These two teams are both brand new teams from last year and neither fan base knows what to expect from their specific team. Kentucky fans will act like they do, but they don't. Just gonna be a great game but ultimately it won't mean anything for March.

Having said that, Duke wins. Why? We have K. They have Cal.

Finally!! I've been ready for this game since the last champions classic. One thing I know my boys will show up and win this one! K is the GOAT with tons of talent and he's still hungry and wants this as do our guys! Grayson continues his tear and Amile keeps it up....

I have a daddy-daughter thing to attend tonight at my daughter's school....so I'll be watching late on tape delay.

This is a great early season matchup. Not only do you have the two premier basketball programs in the country, but you also have two young and much different teams than the last time we saw them. This is a gigantic test for both teams, and no matter who wins, it will look really good on one team's resume come March.

Reluctantly, I give a slight advantage to UK in this one.

Either way, this game is just bragging rights. Both teams will get better. Good luck tonight buddy, hopefully UK Can pull this off. If not, I'll congrat y'all after the game.

Im calling it now.. Duke is down by 1 with about 5 seconds to play. We get the ball at midcourt. Grayson Allen drives the lane and throws one down at the buzzer.. Kentucky fans lose it.. and in 20 years there will be a new 30 for 30. "I hate Grayson Allen"

Obviously both teams will be anxious and feel some pressure, but I wonder who will feel the most pressure?

Does UK as the favorite feel it, or does Duke as defending champs feel it? I don't want any of that equal cop out crap either. Haha. Discuss!

Amile Jefferson and Matt Jones will be the difference on D. Grayson will go beast-mode again with penetration. Plumlee will overpower and reveal that he was who we thought he was! The experience will win-out

I like Sky's post. I'm gonna go with that.

My wife had a setback yesterday and is back in the ICU. She's on a breathing tube and sedatives until they can remove some fluid from around her lungs. Prayers please.

I submit that UK would. K has always been very forthright in stating they are not defending champs. Every year is a new challenge and a new drive for a championship.

While we are the defending champs, UK was the team that was supposed to go unbeaten last year and run the table. That obviously didn't work out. They have another great class in, they are the higher ranked team, and their fan base is "starved" for a title after not winning one last year. I say pressure is on Calipari.

I think it will be a close game, but when the game gets late -- I think the game will devolve into a lot of ISO-type plays at this stage of the season. And I think Ullis, Murray, and Labissier give them the edge in that regard -- particularly Murray.

Until Thornton wins the starting job, I think we're going to struggle getting high quality looks when the game becomes a possession-by-possession game late (i.e., Tyus Jones / Justise Winslow time last season).

I'm going to take Duke since its early season and K usually has his teams well prepared early. I think Kennard makes some game changing plays that win it down the stretch...I like his game!

My heart says Duke but my mind says UK. I think they are simply a little further along than we are and their perceived strength(interior play/size) is our perceived weakness. At the same time, K is going to have our guys motivated and ready. And it's not like we are going to be out-talented. We are really talented too. At the end of the day, I think we shoot better and win. Grayson, Matt, and Luke to lead the way.

I just overlook stupidity and look forward to talking to "ALL" my buddies.
