Ok we need to get back in the win column after this little "mini skid". Hopefully Syracuse at home can be the answer to that.

It's going to take a better effort from our defense tonight. Right now its (the defense) giving up way too many easy put backs..

I'm not going to get too in depth here. We shoot well and defend, we win. But will we?

I sure hope so...Game is slated for a 7pm est tip and will air on ESPNHD.

GO DUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick turn around, just not many adjustments can be made even if time did allow. We know it's a must win, K knows it.

Will we be playing our first game outa the top 25 in a long while??

Vegas see the spread at Duke -11. I just don't see that. It all depends on if we can hit outside shots against their zone. Let's just hope Duke can get maybe 2 or 3 stops in a row on D.

I was going to start a separate thread, but the overall message is that we need to get back on track so my long rant is most likely fitting in here.....

As so often is the case after a couple of losses, people tend to lose control of their emotions and dramatize the struggles that a Duke team is enduring. However lets remember a couple items. First, we are coming off a national championship. Take a look around the country and point out the teams that can make that statement, not just this year but working back several years as well. There are not many programs that are lucky enough to make that statement. Second, we entered this year knowing it was going to be a struggle. You don't move up a level whether it is high school to DI or DI to the NBA and not find adversity. Forget about last year's team and how easy they made it look. Even last year's team hit a bump in the road and that group was clearly not the norm whatsoever. Take a look Kentucky a couple years back. They entered the tournament as an 8 seed. They had all the high school talent in the world and found serious struggles throughout the year. They certainly made a run and even ended up in the national championship game, but that was due to where their team was in March and not January. Our roster is our roster and it's not going to change, no matter how much we rant about this player or that player. I take no issue when people make constructive criticism about a certain player or a group of players if it creates reasonable talking points. But taking specific shots at a player to serve your own self interest of venting your own frustrations is not what message boards were designed for. I would like to think our board has maintained a decent reputation of avoiding that type of nonsense even when our team is struggling. *End Rant*

It is time to shift focus from bickering over the last couple of games and look forward to another tough matchup this evening. Don't let Syracuse's record fool you, they are no slouch. Even when we appeared to be the better team on paper recently we have been unable to get an easy win, it's always a battle. I will be looking to see how well we rebound the ball as a team and how well we execute our team defense. Our team is loaded with offensively gifted athletes, but unfortunately this is only half the game. We need to make serious progressions in our team defense and team rebounding if we are going to progress as a team. I am confident this group of guys will progress whether we see it tonight or the next game or the game after that. Regardless of everything I have previously mentioned, this team needs a W to get back on track. This message board needs a W to relieve a little of the tension. Here's to hoping our team scores more points than our opposition tonight. Lets go Duke.

Well, I'm not about to start my 1,000th post with gloom and doom. I think this will be a very tough game and we must come prepared to score, and score a lot! These are really great kids, and win or lose, we knew this year was going to be tough, we are just so spoiled by last year that we can't get over it (yes, I am too).
We must contain Cooney & MG, and somehow crash the boards. Tonight, we share the ball, show our maturity, and never, ever, give up! Duke will somehow find a way to get this one.

Be interesting to watch Derryck's minutes tonite....I think we get a boost from DT if he plays a solid if unspectacular game...Matt looked whipped at end Saturday- he went all
40....I just do not see us dropping 3 straight, Devils get it 86-79....

Sometimes the best ingredient following a loss is a quick turnaround. Well, at least that's what I'm hoping for tonight.

I don't think it's always going to be pretty and I expect Syracuse to score and to score often. But we end up with a few more.

Try discussing the actual content of a post instead of living in your Duke all-mighty bubble.

I think we win tonight easily....Don't know why but just have that feeling.

Luke continues to go off and Ingram and Allen do their thing(please stay out of foul trouble Ingram)

I for one really like DT's on ball pressure on defense. Don't know why his minutes were down Saturday unless K just wanted to play pure offense.

DT is big for us...we need him to step up plain and simple

If i were the only one saying it, you might get away with but most here have been here long enough to endure your on and on's about our gloom, it just gets old. Pretty sure I've posted in just about every game thread this year Show...it just gets to you because we are in a slump.

So again...whatever fits your narrative. You actually have an inability to post about actual content of a post but have to stretch them to fit your agenda to come at me over and over. That's what gets old...

Did I say anything about Show...nope. Did you discuss actual content of a post...nope.

But you want to start so here I am...and then you want to whine about responses. Well wha wha Show...the message board tough guy...at least you try to be.

Here are some facts about this years team....however this to you will be (Coach can't coach, we can't recruit, players are going to transfer etc..etc..blah blah). All of which actually have not been stated.

1) we can't defend
2) we lack PG play
3) we have no bench

I don't think this team is very good...I'm allowed my opinion. I'm most certain I can like Duke and think they are not good at the same time.

Spare me the tough guy bs. I post just as I am. I say nothing on this board I won't say directly to your face in person. If that guides me into the tough guy category so be it. I'm not questioning whether or not you like Duke. And I don't get on people's case because they discuss weaknesses . There are only a few here( you're one of the main ones) who just don't seem to come into form until we hit our annual slump. Sure discuss it, but don't bathe us in it daily. Jesus Christ man, it's tough to take sometimes. I may be over reacting due to how you've been in the past and I'm just gritting my teeth expecting same. We just won a ship. We have a plethora of studs on deck for the upcoming season. We lost a lot. Jefferson is hurt, Grayson had the flu. All I ask is look for a little good once in a while. Yes, damn right, I LOVE this team. More than a lot of you can fathom. If that's a bad thing, well, color me bad.

I've posted all season so I don't know where you've been. And I do post good...its just not as fun to recognize as the bad. And it's hardly daily...I discuss much in threads that are not about our losing.

I didn't post anything bad last game...I'm not getting worked up over this slump because I think it's pretty obvious where we stand. Losing your marbles about losses from this team is silly...gonna be a bunch more. And they are for the reasons we have both stated. It is what it is....but it isn't all the stuff you add between the lines.
