This is just a question and possibly a fair assumption.

Now, as fans, if he comes back will we embrace the kid? I'm pretty sure he will start and be the first option if he returns.

Um context please. There are a lot of rumors and reports swirling so I would suggest linking something so that we can discuss. Not trying to bash you but would love to know where you are getting your information.

That aside if Bolden comes back damn right I support him. I don't judge people based on how they handle their potential millions of dollars. It is an anxious time for him and his family and they are just trying to get it right.

I think they will try to talk him into staying, but with schools alrdy being discussed, I think he may already be a done deal to TCU or Texas.

This is my two cents, but I feel he went to Duke with many expectations of being 1 and done. And, I think he may feel his future was sabotaged. Not sure the rift is repairable at this point.

See how it shakes out tho.

Not saying I know for sure, but it always seemed like the only teammates he really liked were Tatum and Giles, and they're both gone. But they were all freshman together, so that would be typical.

If that were true, then the guy needs to learn to get along with others. The real world rewards those adaptable. I doubt it's true what you're saying. He was cutting up on the Duke bench with everyone.

Shaka probably ran over to DeSoto for him. Jarrett Allen and Cleare gone...He's needed. I would not be surprised if he purses a hardship waiver.

He displayed too much Mike G unsatisation.

Sitting on the bench the entire year between Jeter and Giles, Bolden had to get a pretty negative feeling. He seemed to play harder as the season went along but got sooo little PT I can only assume he was a big disappointment to Coach K. But then again if Coach K cared much about him leaving he would have played Bolden more often.

I went to open practice in Oct & Bolden was lethargic. He needs a wake up call. Stay & compete, don't run off & avoid challenges.

I used the wrong words. I don't believe he didn't like the rest of the team, he was just closest to Tatum and Giles.

If Bolden wants to leave -- GREAT! He needs to go. If he wants to go to UT -- GREAT! Smart is going to give him a lot of what he is leaving at Duke.

I think his early injury set the mindset for him and K's staff. When you have a 1-and-done and he's injured what do you do? Put him on the bench and make sure he's ok or have him tough through the season? Tatum was able to get past it, Bolden wasn't.

Hate to see it happen, but all the players have to decide what is best for themselves in the long run. Bolden feels that he is better used somewhere else. I could argue either way. But, my bottomline is -- I don't want any player on the team that does not want to be at Duke. I hope that he has a successful career, but not at the expense of our team or it's cohesiveness.

These kids think the grass is always greener someplace else.... I hope he is prepared to live with the consequences (sitting out a year, maybe regressing).

Sometimes the grass is greener. Duke isn't for everyone. Let the ones go that don't want to be here and support the ones who do.

I would guess the staff has already spoke to him about staying and if he does what is expected of him next year. OFC

Everyone is talking about how Bolden probably didn't get along with teammates, was angry he wasn't playing, needs to grow up, was lazy and disinterested (which definitely appeared to be the case 95% of the time he was in the game), etc., but again, we don't know what was going on behind the scenes. Maybe it's completely on him; maybe he is just a selfish, overrated player, that didn't like his teammates and had a grudge against the staff for not getting minutes. But we don't know that. Whatever the cause is, it's on the staff to right the ship because our team chemistry - especially the first few months - was noticeably bad and we aren't doing what we need to be doing with the talent we have/get. I understand we won the NT in 2010, but we had three freshman that were outliers - they weren't even typical for OAD freshman, imo (granted Tyus was an amazing surprise). Many other teams in country - and as much as I hate to say it, the team down the road - are doing more with less talent in recent years.

Then put a question-mark in the title rather than make a statement of fact without basis. On most keyboards it's just below the colons and the quotation marks.

I found myself actually agreeing with ya until this. I doubt he returns but I hope he does. Anyway , I don't feel like this was a banner year for K , coaching-wise , but if anyone "sabotaged" Bolden it was Bolden. Do I think he shoulda had a longer leash? Yep. Do I also believe he takes plays off , gets lost and doesn't work as hard as he's able? Again , yes. And given that Roy's recruiting drought is due in large part to having elites stay multiple seasons ( Only 4 players outta the last 2 Top 15 recruiting classes are still in school. Roy has 3 of 'em. ) while their peers are cashing NBA paychecks , ya might've considered wording that better.

Glad to see him staying, I hope that he finds his groove!

“Despite rumors about my future that have circulated in recent days, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be returning to Duke for my sophomore year,” Bolden said. “I have unbelievable support from my family, teammates and coaches. I’m ready to get to work for next season and I’m excited for what should be a great year for our program.”
