Going forward nobody will get any money for anything and nobody will be on anymore video games. Sweet. Hope those effing jackwagons are happy. That money will be gone in days if not sooner, and going forward they ruined it for everyone on both sides. Total richardheads. But at least the lawyers got rich!! Oh to hell with it, their dickheads.

Another reason to hate that coke head Sam Keller.
Curious, where is your line drawn in which you say, "No, that's not right to make money off of that guy like that without him getting a cent"? So far, the complaints on here are gamers that are mad that they took away their game.

I love Herbie's quote in which he speaks for literally every college football player, past and present, about what they would accept as far as compensation ("a free game"). Then, at the same time, I'm guessing he was compensated much more richly than a free video game.

I cheered for those guys and paid for tickets and merchandise. I feel that since they are getting some money, some should be mine as well. God Bless America.

Whatever EA puts in place to keep from getting sued, gamers will easily work around. It never takes long for somebody to release a downloadable roster with your team's favorite players modded to include realistic names, numbers, and attributes.

You could already do that. If EA wouldnt have been stupid and would have done away with default rosters that were close to real, none of this would have happened.

I NEVER bought the game because of them. I bought the game to play college football. I paid money for the programmers work. Not some crappy QB like Keller being in the game.

I think this is the way they will work around it. At least I hope.

Things I hope the new release includes:

-Stadium expansion
-Facility upgrades
-Assistant coaching salaries. Man do I get tired of having assistant coaches leave every year. I want to be able to lock them in with high salaries if I am winning, so I can keep them for a few years. Certain teams would only have certain budgets available based on winning, size of school, etc. You would have to balance salaries with facility and stadium upgrades.
-Maybe have assistant coaches skill trees more specific to the types of schemes they have 'coached'. So a 3-4 DC doesn't have the same skill level if he coaches a 4-3.
-Have teams like Army and Navy have their natural handicap. Every dynasty I start Navy becomes a real player because they don't have their natural handicap of having to convince top athletes to join the service. The unrealistic feal of that bothers me for some reason.
-Make the read option more difficult. On Heisman I am unstoppable verse the CPU when I run the read option. I changed offenses because it became too routine.

Ok. But did you feel the need to add their names?
I usually did download the "real" named rosters but I didnt play for that. I enjoyed the game after many recruiting cycles when all the "real" players were gone and only "fake" computer generated players remained. I probably enjoyed it more as that usually meant Nebraska had a 4 or 5 star stud at QB and most other positions and not some schmuck like Keller.

EA has wanted to pay these guys for their likeness for awhile now but the NCAA always said no. If there is money to be made and the athletes can get a chunk, look for a fully fleshed out, fully authentic College Football game in the summer of 17.

I never upgraded to the name package. Didn't care. I love that game, and have loved it ever since Keith Jackson was the background voice. It's just a great overall game, and it sucks that this had to happen to it. The names were worthless as I played a lot of Dynasty Mode, and would build or recruit my national title teams! I think NU should hire me to coach because I won 10 straight natty's on that game. I think I had a heisman winner every year, and my teams had ridiculous numbers leading the league on both O and D.

Unlike many in this thread, my son and I loved the real college football players. To the point we played for hours and had a great time doing it, right up until he turned about 12 and could kick my *** on command. But right up until that time, knowing the players and playing as the Huskers was awesome and one of the reasons we loved the game so much. Now imagine if you are one of the players on that game, how freaking cool would that be? Those dorks took all that away and what did they accomplish exactly? Now a lot of people hate those players, the lawyers got rich, and the trouble makers didn't even collect enough to buy a decent used car. Dorks.

That...or they stopped a business practice that literally everywhere else in our society is obviously illegal. Guessing you'll stick with your version though.

Everything I said in the last few sentences is 100% dead on balls accurate, and if you disagree tell me where I am wrong. More people think those players that ruined it are dorks, than not. It was totally within their rights to do it, and yes the court sided with them. I still think they accomplished little to nothing and ruined something pretty special for a lot of people that didn't care they used their likeness, and the fans alike. For what again? A few bucks, whoopee.

Kinda sounds a little bit like the arguments voiced when Napster was shut down.

It's not that you/I are right or wrong, it's that we're arguing different things. Illegal activity by a company was enjoyed by many. Illegal activity was shut down and some of the victims were rightfully compensated. The consequence for you is that you have to go find a different game to play. Whoopee, as you say.

Refresh my memory- what did Sam K. do that was so bad the every husker fan should disown him? I mean he wasn't great but that doesn't make him different than many other players from that time. Not his fault that Callahan chose to start him or that he got hurt. What am I forgetting about because I really have tried to wipe that period of husker football from my memory

If I was a college player put it in my scholarship that EA gets to use my likeness, but I get any EA sports game I want for free while i'm in college. I bet a lot of college players would go for that. Hell, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
