Who do you think is gonna go?

I believe Samaje Perine, Joe Mixon, Orlando Brown, Jordan Thomas and Steven Parker are the only legitimate possibilities.

My guess is Perine, Parker and Brown return, while Mixon and Thomas declare. Mixon is ready. Jordan needs to repair his image after some bad lapses this season.

Agree....and with the latest news on the Mixon video, he make leave town to go pro.
Perine's return is very important, but if I were him I might take the money and run.
Brown is a solid prospect, but I wish someone would calm him down. OU does not need personal fouls. 15 yards is hard to make up offensively.

Well, if what Perine said in that video is true, that getting a degree at OU was the most important thing, then he will return. Due to legal issues, I could see Mixon declare, but he hasn't played a lot and returning, he could really raise his NFL stock.

Honestly, history shows declaring early doesn't help too many players, in fact, it's the complete opposite, with many never really making it.

Think about it. If a player stays and get his degree, that shows he has his head on right and works hard, barring injuries, that's a trait that will help garner a long NFL career.

Perine wants to be a HR director/mgr. He will be the swollen dude with bald head and beard. He might be an executive director for a govt. agency in Texas, he's a smart kid. I see him playing a few years in the NFL, he fits the physical style of SY back. I don't see him leaving early, although he could.

I think Perine returns for one more season as the feature back but it's never a bad idea for a running back with nothing to prove to get his money now before there's to much wear on the body.

I think Brown has already said he's coming back?

edit: he's returning, per his twitter: https://twitter.com/ZEUS__78?ref_src=twsrc^tfw

This can't be better news with the return of Baker. Once again, we're looking for WRs though. We've been in a helluva drought there. Aside from our 1-star per year, it would be nice to get back to the situation we had for most of the 00s when we could spread the field with all dependable receivers.

Instead of one 80-catch player and a bunch of 10-catch guys, I'd rather field a corp of 4-5 guys with 30-40 catches.

Mark Andrews will be Baker's go to guy in 2017 and look for Smallwood and Mead to become more reliable with Mykel Jones being a 1st down machine.

Forgot about Mykel, he's definitely promising. My optimism is low on Mead, been hearing too much and not seeing enough for quite some time.

Is there an honest lawyer in the house or even a lawyer that does not met the adjective? Unless I missed it -- has there been a settlement with Mixon's adversary? If not, would Mixon be better off waiting for the financial judgement, giving her what he has in his bank account and then declare bankruptcy?

Exactly!!! All players have a shelf-life, especially RBs. The extra year at OU, means that's one year less making money in the NFL.

Another big piece: Lincoln Riley either is holding out for a blockbuster HC job, or he's coming back as OC for next year. (Per other thread reporting him turning down UH.)

Defensive coaches are likely another discussion, but the offensive staff is undeniably elite.

With Riley back (hopefully) I think you can go ahead and assume we'll have one of the best offenses in the country, with Baker, a complete offensive line, Perine and/or Mixon, Andrews, and roughly 4 wide receivers starting to "get it". Adams and Flowers are both fantastic guys to lean on if 1 or both of Perine and Mixon leave. As long as Cale has been here, RB is not a concern.

Defensively, that will be the question. Linebackers should be improved overall even with the graduation of Jordan Evans. I feel like we can absorb losing 1 of Jordan Thomas or Steven Parker but not both. Neville Gallimore, Matt Romar and DJ Ward give a great starting point for the line. With Lampkin and Overton as rotators. There will be no room for excuses.

There is a lot of different talk about both running backs. I think Perine has more at risk. He just has more collisions, most caused by his running style.

But I think there is a chance Mixon returns. This video is likely to be coming out, about the time it would most affect his standing and drop him a ways in the draft. There are some who thinks he could be a Heisman candidate if he is 'the man' at running back next season.

I don't think he's up to being the feature back, without someone to alternate with, even if he gets more snaps. He seemed to get tired some, when his workload was high.

But he sure is a threat as a multi talent. No linebacker can cover him, but since he can play tailback, they have to be run first on defense when he's in the game.

I would prefer if it's him only, that they find somebody else for kickoff and punt return duties.

If Perine and Mixon leave and with Westbrook leave, that is 3/4 of OU's big guns gone, as well as serviceable receivers Geno Lewis and Jarvis Baxter.
This is not doom and gloom if OU's young receivers can step up and some highly recruited WR's (Lamb, Rambo, Calcaterra) can hit the ground running. I also believe there is a WR transfer (JUCO or another school) waiting in the wings somewhere, like a Bradley, Brown, Bester, Saunders, Westbrook.
The defense for 2017 is a guessing game. At LB, Beal, Doucet, Kelly, Okoronkwo need to improve and hopefully 2 or 3 freshmen among the likes of Draper, Gumbs, Phillips and Murray can contribute. Gallimore, Lampkin, Overton and Romar are decent NT's.
DE has Ward returning and Bledsoe returns in the second half of the season, but the depth behind these two is shaky. Jackson who redshirted can add depth and maybe Mann can too.
The secondary has to return both Parker and Jordan Thomas if it has any chance of being decent.
An elite class is coming in and the running backs, receivers, linebackers and defensive backs within it need to contribute quickly.

Technically we've got Gallimore at DE but with those returning it sure would be nice go back to a traditional 4 man front.

Romar at a 1 tech, and Gallimore at a 3 would be beautiful. DJ at one DE spot and find another capable guy with some rotators. Could even use Obo as a pure rush end in long yardage situations.

I do think Perine is going to declare and leave. He's been dinged up some this year, so I really think that will factor into him deciding to leave. That news I think will help retain Mixon for next year. I think Mixon will realize a year without sharing carries with a back like Perine will help improve his draft stock.

No maybe about it. But yes, he's always been a good recruiter.

I'm just giving Cale his credit. He was the running backs coach many years and was the position coach personally responsible for bringing in guys like Perine, Mixon, Murray and Peterson. And even in year where we weren't lead by a top tier recruit at that position, he always got nearly unparalleled results.

Enters his second season coaching inside receivers after a successful 16-year stint as Oklahoma’s running backs coach. Was also promoted to the post of assistant head coach in 2015.

From the Tulsa World (12/08/16) -- Amelia Molitor... She suffered from several broken bones in her face and is now suing Mixon in federal court.

My original post and question still stands regarding his financial liability.

You spit on me (assault), hit me (assault) and call me a racial slur (makes first 2 hate crimes) and I react by slapping or shoving you, I owe you NOTHING!!! A woman knows better than to attack a man and the law makes no distinction.

If she gets a judgment it will not be dischargeable in bankruptcy

Hopefully none of them leave, but I could see Perrine go early because an NFL RB's career is very short. He'll do will do well after the NFL as he seems like a very sharp young man, so I can't blame him if he leaves (after the bowl game).

I'm flipping your Perrine & Mixon. I think Perrine leaves and Mixon stays put. Perrine is physically ready and has taken a tremendous amount of carries. He's going to grab his NFL money. While Mixon will sit tight, let the video hit, and die down, then go NFL next year.
