What happened? Remember when ppl melted down and got upset when posters said this wouldn't be a big deal...no different than anthrax, SARS, Asian bird flu, etc. Or are people still building their quarantine areas?

lol there were several idiots on here saying it was going to ruin our country , turn into this huge epidemic blah blah blah. Saying Obama will have blood on his hands... Some of them even thinking Obama wanted this and planned it.

Any idiot who thought this would turn into anything more than it did should delete their account immediately

Ebola is deadly but it doesn't compare to Malaria which kills about 600,000 people per year.

I think it shows just how much influence the media actually has on people.

Because there were a lot of people generally worried. Medical offices had and still have warnings up about it.

The hospital that I work at still has signs up & asks patients if they have been to west Africa in the past 21 days. They also spent an assload of money buying equipment to be able to take care of an ebola paitent. I've been witness to the ebola equipment bunker. Another great thing is they equiped their fleet cars with ebola gowns & gloves.

Back in February, my wife had to drive a hospital car to an off-site clinic (~70 mi). During her drive, she came upon an accident scene and stopped to render aid (pretty much had to, road blocked and local sheriff was desperate to have someone else do first aid). She looks in the trunk & finds it is equiped with ebola gear, but no regular first aid kit.

I read that our hospital had spent ~$600k preparing for a possible ebola patient. That figure was supplies, not people's time.

I had a doc visit recently and they asked me if I had traveled to Africa. They said is was a mandatory question for all patients.

Precautions made sure the ebola didn't spread. Also the disease got less virulent, which inccidently, helped its longevity.
