Has a bad ankle but still looks good in Class A championship game so far.
U beat me to the post.
Miles needs to go after him and you know Mac at Creighton wants him as well.
#10 for Papio La Vista is headed for UNO.
The problem is we will have limited scholarships for 2018 and we already have so many similar players to Chang. We don't really need another wing player with limited outside shooting ability.

Need to get Nick Fuller a grad school fellowship at one of these fine institutions:The problem is we will have limited scholarships for 2018 and we already have so many similar players to Chang. We don't really need another wing player with limited outside shooting ability.
Chang is far from limited in his shooting ability from the outside.
I think KP commented the other night that he expected some off season roster moves....That said, IF some of our more talented players played with Nick's court awareness, we would be a better team.Need to get Nick Fuller a grad school fellowship at one of these fine institutions:

He's shot 29% from 3-point range in his career so far (according to official stats on Maxpreps). So he's not exactly Kyle Korver, or even Jeriah Horne for that amtter. Roby and Horne were much better high school prospects and look how they have struggled so far at the Big Ten level. Chang is far too skinny to be able to finish inside in the Big Ten, so I think his college potential is limited unless he becomes a much more consistent outside shooter.
What this program really needs are dynamic outside shooters and skilled post players. We will also desperately need a point guard recruit next year to replace Watson. Chang will most likely ride the pine behind Roby and Akenten for most of his career. We have much more pressing recruiting needs if we want to compete in the Big Ten.
I don't care how much you're growing as a high schooler. IF you're shooting in the low 30s from 3 in high school, it going to take a tremendous amount of work to raise that when you start facing d-1 defenses.

Here we go again. Let's all put a great in-state prospect under the microscope and let him kick our *** every year playing for the Bluejays.
I wasn't saying we shouldn't recruit him. My point is he better have more game than a low 30% 3 pt line because you can't expect that to suddenly get better in college. Again, I haven't seen him play.Well damn Bob Huggins is a freaking idiot. Teddy Allen is a career 34% from 3 in his high school career at the C1 level, and he's going to.....West Virginia. Maybe you saw them today, in the Big 12 Championship game. Oh, and WV would destroy Nebraska.

I know where you were headed with Nick comment, but a Northern Sun school won the National Title last year AND that same school beat Iowa. Maybe lower level NSIC, but not the top.Need to get Nick Fuller a grad school fellowship at one of these fine institutions:

Have you watchedhim play? I have when they played Millard South in the regular season (Not Districts).Find me a 6 8 player in high school, shooting in the 40% range or higher, that has enough attempts per game to be listed in the stats for the top shooters. They are hard to find. There is nothing unusual about his three point shooting stats for a kid as tall as him. And as I pointed out, compare him to Teddy Allen, who will likely play 2 guard at WV. 34% from 3.
The best 3 point shooters in class A that have enough attempts to register in the stats? Look their names up and see if you recognize any of them as being recruited by D1 schools.
And yes you can and better expect that to get better in college because you see it all the time. Tai Webster 17%, 23%, 35% in his first 3 years in college. His final year, yes it went down to 29%, but his attempts per game more that doubled as he became the go to guy.
If Ed Chang was being recruited to be a 2 or swing guard, I'd be concerned with a 33% from 3. He's been playing the 5 in high school. Do you think he's going to play the 5 in college? That's what happens to a lot of guys like him when they get to college. They get to move out of the paint more, and get more practice and reps, and their percentages go up.
If you expect a guy who has been playing varsity for all his high school career since he was a freshman, AND was (and maybe still is) growing to shoot at a high percentage, you are foolish.
Look at those stats deeper and you'd see he's improved every year, and has 1 more to go. 33% from 3 as a high school junior, still growing into his body is pretty decent.
Oh, and consider that Petteway shot 31% from 3 point range during his Nebraska career. If it weren't for Petteway, Miles would likely be fired by now.
So he's good enough for Iowa and Creighton (and potentially other offers coming) but not Nebraska. Ok got it.
Right now, I wouldn't assume who would still be on the roster in a couple of years.
He'd probably be stupid to come to Nebraska anyway. After what Iowa did with another guy who was too skinny in Jok, I'd probably go there.
I don't care what shooters you bring in, they will struggle in Nebraska's offense.

Who does he replace and steal time from if he was to be on this current Nebraska roster
- He has no inside game what so ever.
- He is a very good ball handler for a kid his size, but not better then Roby who is currently the same size and is already on the Nebraska roster.
- He is lazy and does not play defense
- His potential is there, but I don't think Nebraska wants a project right now. That is what Ed Chang is at the moment
- He is a junior so who's to say Miles will be here when and if he'd wanted to join Nebraska
We'll see if these schools honor his offer. Miles parted ways with Aguek Arop, who I think is a better overall basketball player than Chang. Honestly, I think the Wingett kid from Winnebago might be a better prospect than both (same size and athleticism but has better shooting form and is a better ball-handler). And if you think a kid will automatically become a better outside shooter in college, look no further than Nick Fuller.
I will say that Chang probably would do well at Creighton or Iowa because they are coached by two of the best offensive coaches in the country, who run up-tempo systems, and find ways to put players in position to score. I don't see him as a good fit for Miles' ball-screen/isolation playbook. But the original point is that we already have 3 similar young wing players/recruits (Roby, Horne, Akenten) who were considered better prospects than Chang, and so far Roby and Horne have shown that they are projects despite being Top 150 recruits and playing against good high school competition. Chang is an even bigger project, which is not what we should be going for in the 6th year of a coach's tenure. He also shows no interesting in playing defense in the games I've seen of him, which is not going to help him see the court in the Big Ten. He could very well become a solid player as a senior like Tai did, but I just think we have more pressing recruiting needs at this time.

Yeah. Daum had so many offers from the D1 schools in-state. Miles was the only one who didn't, right? It's amazing how much of a project a lot of players look like in a Miles' coached offense at Nebraska.
I would not be against giving Wingett a shot, but Miles won't. Just like he didn't give Daum a shot when he averaged 25 a game, and shot 40% from 3 as a senior. Gotta play good defense first RollingLaugh

Daum was so acclaimed that he was 1st team super state... oh wait.

I am a huge Tim Miles apologist, but he whiffed on Daum. No other way to slice it. He gets paid millions of dollars to find/develop talent and he was in our freaking backyard with no other competing offers. He was gift-wrapped for us and Miles said no thanks. You can't miss on in-state kids like this when we are who we are.
So in your opinion Daum is the difference between 12-19 and 19-12?
Not sure how you deciphered that based on my response, but he definitely wins us a handful of more games. That I think anyone would agree with.
Why did creyton not offer him?Based on what you know today he wins Nebraska a handful more games Hindsight is a beautiful thing huh?
