I wonder if there is a correlation between a person's age and whether or not he likes egg nog.

Store bought egg nog is the suck. Just like Claxton's fruit cake is the suck. Spend a little time and make some homemade egg nog.

Worked at a dairy (wholesale milk company) in college. I was responsible for ordering and inventory management. I had to deal with egg nog and boiled custard during the holidays. I despise both of them because of that - they may have well as touched me in a bad place for all the trauma they caused.

What's the difference?

I asked the same question this year. My wife's family is all about boiled custard and they serve it as a beverage with the dessert. I am not a fan (too sweet). To me, it tastes like melted french vanilla ice cream.

Apparently, eggnog is a simple mixture whereas boiled custard is actually cooked? Eggnog is considered a beverage and is usually thinner in consistency, usually contains a spice like nutmeg and is more often used as a vehicle for alcohol. They told me the two are nothing alike, but damned if I can tell a difference.

I'm a boiled custard guy, nog is only acceptable with a high content of booze.
