hope so or we can keep running a 3-4 and let our best pass rusher in Hatcher guard receivers on 3rd down.

Please fire DJ Elliot. Please.

I think Eliot needed to go worse than Dawson did to be honest. I wasn't huge on Dawson but he could have improved after a second year. But Eliot has been here three years and very small amount of improvement. Eliots schemes are JV league at best.

I don't mind if Eliot is retained. But I do think he should be demoted to a position coach like he was at FSU, or at the very least be made Co-DC alongside someone like Pelini that will actually be the guy in charge of the defense. Eliot is entering his 4th season as DC and he still looks like a completely green rookie out there. That is unacceptable.

Bank it, he's not going anywhere. Can he be moved to an assistant position, more likely, unless there's a rift over the demotion.

Huge booster friend of mine at FSU told me the coaches down there hated losing Eliot, FWIW....

As an assistant he was highly thought of. I think, like with the OC position, the DC position is not the easiest job in the world along with it being a massive rebuilding job in their first year. It may have been too much for even experienced coaches.

Something that has stayed with me over the last couple of off season coaching changes that bothers me is when Stoops hired Naivar, one of the reasons he gave was because of his defensive coordinating experience to "help D.J. out." Then he said the exact same thing when he replace Naivar with Buh. Now, I like Stoops a lot and I appreciate loyalty but I thought it was an odd thing to hear both times.

DJ wouldn't be the first coach at DC to be in over his head. Plus if Stoops would admit it, this job was way more problem then even he even thought.

I could certainly see that happening

I think MS is in way over his head...Time will tell, but still has that deer in the headlight look on the sideline...

Eliot isn't the problem. Our defense played well enough to win 7-8 games this year but the offense would go 3 and out then Foster would shank a punt 25-30 yards. The defense was on the field entirely too much and kept getting a short field. Our LBs have improved and the secondary played surprising well for how young we were. Losing Lewis was a crippling blow to the defense. The NG is probably the most important position in a 3-4 defense.

If Stoops finds a OC the can make big strides with the offense next year it will help the defensive stats immensely
