Well Nance and Beran could block shots as help defenders, but couldn't keep their guy from pushing them around.

Nicholson, on the other hand, was stapled to the bench. He's your rim protector.

Based on the same evidence you've also seen, he's a walking foul. I think he has the tools to improve. I will have no further comment on Nicholson at this time and will not be taking questions.

The plot of "block rate" vs defensive 2 point FG% was interesting.
I don't think that should really surprise anybody though.
You get a post player who can alter shots and your team improves.
Block Rate is also highly correlated with rebounding, I'd assume.
We already know rebounding is highly correlated with winning.

Thats why Nicholson should have been playing more, regardless of his proclivity to get called for fouls. We had other options.

Refs love to call fouls on big guys, especially when a little guy jumps into them. Worst habit of basketball officials..
