https://nypost.com/2019/01/05/enes-kanter-wont-go-to-london-because-of-a-freaking-lunatic/

LOS ANGELES — Enes Kanter revealed after the Knicks’ 119-112 victory over the Lakers he won’t be heading to London for their game against the Wizards on Jan. 17.

Kanter has an invalid Turkish passport because of his long-running feud against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the political dictator in his home country. Kanter said he’s worried about “spies’’ in London.

“I talk to the front office and decided I’m not going,’’ Kanter said. “The freaking lunatic, there’s a chance I can get killed out there. I talked to the front office. I’m not going. I’m going to stay here and practice. It’s pretty sad. All this stuff affects my career in basketball. I want to help my team win, but because of one lunatic guy I can’t even go there to do my job. It’s pretty sad. They got a lot of spies there. I can get killed pretty easy.’’

It’s pitiful when the arms of a murderous dictator are so long and powerful that a guy literally has to worry about being assassinated because of words he spoke. Wish Kanter and his family didn’t have to deal with all of this:( It’s almost too bad the US government can’t do something about this... “Anything happens, and we bomb the living **** out of you.” That sort of thing.

The Moors are looking down (or probably up) and saying “Damn, we tried to conquer Europe the hard way. THESE guys are conquering and their conquered welcomed them”!

Don’t blame Enes one bit.

“See Italians from sicily used to look like wops from northern Italy blonde hair blue eyes. But when the moors conquered Sicily...they did so much ****** with the Sicilian women. They changed the bloodline forever. Now if that’s a fact...am I lying?”

You couldn’t pay me to go to England France Belgium or Germany they’ve destroyed themselves

:flushed:

Uhmmm... all of those countries are beautiful. Careful about making giant generalizations about entire countries. Do you think it would be fair if they looked at some trailer park in Mississippi or some ghetto in New Jersey and said “You couldn’t pay me to go to the US, they’ve destroyed themselves.”? Obviously not.

Between that scene and “It ain’t white boy day, is it?”... that movie is the most badass collection of scenes ever:)

Yeah well his family fears for their life every single day because he just HAD to speak out. Sick of hearing how he’s got it so tough.
Freedom of speech is becoming very unpopular to the "me too" and "me only" generation of America. Especially if you tell the truth about a Muslim president of Turkey. That is forbidden. Now if you want to speak ill of someone living in a trailer in Mississippi you have America's blessings.

If Enes had said America is oppressive and NFL players are like slave the world would be toasting him as an enlightened one. The United Nations would probably provide him with a body guard.

I have no problem with freedom of speech. I just have a problem feeling sorry fo a guy who's safe over here while his family is anything but safe over there. No more comment from me. Not worth my time. I just wish this Enes Kanter stuff would get moved to the political forum.

They do. I remember chatting with an English person some years back who said they'd never come here for fear of being shot while walking down the street.

Ah, nothing like speaking from a place of zero experience, right? Because I’ve been to Belgium and England, and had a place in Paris for a decade. A good friend lives in Germany half the year. I've got EU citizenship. There are issues in many European countries, just as there are issues in EVERY country. But anyone who is dumb enough to say you couldn’t pay them to visit those countries... well, that’s dumb, and my guess spoken by someone who has never been to those places to begin with.

And maybe you missed it... but New York already got hit. I lived there when it happened, a few blocks from the towers. 2000+ dead. Republican president and republican mayor when it happened, since you seem to think that matters. And then a bunch of people got shot in California, and a bunch of soldiers got shot at Fort Hood, and a bunch of people got shot in a school in Newtown, and a bunch of people got shot in a nightclub in Miami, and on and on and on, to the tune of the United States having a murder rate nearly four times that of the European countries listed.

But hey... facts and first hand experience don’t matter in the face of knee jerk OMG EUROPE SUCKS!!1! nationalism, amirite?

A guy shouldn’t have to worry about being assassinated because he rightly spoke out against a murderous dictator. I get that you might be a “Well, if there is a possibility of danger you should just be quiet” type. I’m generally more of a “speak out against wrong, even if there are consequences” type. I think most of the people in history who matter are more like that. And it sucks that his family had to disown him and cut ties with him to protect themselves. As a Kentucky fan, I’d expect you would take the side of your player whose family is being punished over some mass murdering dictator who is opening religious schools trying to raise a fundamental people.

QT is the man he’s a psycho but his dialogue is golden

I loved Django and Hateful Eight SO damn much... hey, if you like his stuff, check out Crimson Tide... submarine movie with Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington and Viggo Mortenson and James Gandolfini, and while he isn’t credited Tarantino did the script. You can tell when they get into a discussion of Silver Surfer;)

And did he know that supporting someone in America who worked against the dictator would have that result? Please share some links, maybe I haven't kept up on the story... are there some stories about what a terrible person Kanter is?

If he didn't know it would be a good time to say he's sorry and get his family out of trouble.

Last time I was in Paris there were soldiers armed with machine guns everywhere. I can assure you it didn’t used to have to be that way. Why don’t you grow a set and name the problem, which is immigration from Muslim countries. London in the near future will have fewer Englishmen than Muslims. No wonder he’s afraid to go there.

But you’ve got an eu passport or some other nonsense.

What odds could you have gotten on 9/11 that Years later we’d have a Muslim president and then a Muslim mayor of London

Living on a thin line by the kinks says it best. All the stories have been told of kings and days of old but There’s no England now
