Black coffee has health benefits

The crap I put in my coffee to make it palatable negates said benefits
Just use some natural honey and milk, maybe cinnamon. It’s fantastic. But then again, I like black coffee.

I posted this in the FITYERO thread but I’ll bring it over here.

*Cliff Notes for Rhonda Patrick’s Healthiest Ways to Drink Coffee**

Robusta not arabica Preferably

Light roast and a best

Kenya/Ethiopia are best

Paper filtered coffee is best

Percolator is best

2-5 cups a day

Stop around noon

Lowers dementia, LDLs, increases antioxidants, caffeine protects cognitive function long term, increases reaction time/speed, working memory, attention, greater mental clarity.

Need 3-6mg/kg caffeine

Stop 8 hours before bed

Only use cream 1x/day, it blunts caffeine’s cognitive effects

L- theanine is a good supplement to boost cognitive effects (I don’t take this yet, most of the rest I do)

Personally, the lady and I both add honey (always local from the farmers market) and milk (her soy, me cow, unless with her) to the first cup and then the next is just more coffee on top of the leftovers of the first cup.

On the weekends we treat ourselves to “fancy” coffee with all the fixin’s.

I just steep grounds in a thermos for 5 - 10 minutes and filter through a pour-over cone. Melitta filters, Indonesian beans, black. Need a quart a day.

Coffee pitch black. Usually do a dark roast (i prefer Green Mountain Dark Magic or Double Black Diamond), and put nothing in it. Got used to the bitter taste and actually prefer it.

Started out in the 9-5 world putting one Splenda and one creamer in my coffee, and started to remove that little bit little.

Robusta doesn't have the sugar concentrate as arabica but its the bottom of the hill bean. Any decent coffee just uses it for filler.

When I was young, I drank coffee black, but now I enjoy it with a little cream.
Dunkin' Donuts serves pretty good coffee, I think.

Drinking a cup here at chemotherapy. Went from "Milchkaffe" or coffee with milk to black while in Germany. Already feel a difference.

Great thread. Thanks.

Golf, coffee, beer . . . without those essentials, what is there to live for? Well, OK, if you want to get technical, throw women and red wine in there too.
I’m with you!

Almost every Sunday I get up at 530 am to play golf at 630. One of the pleasures is drinking my Maxwell House out of my Joe DiMaggio Mr Coffee with Irish Cream.

Couple beers later usually watching golf. Married so no outside women. Do drink a bit of red wine… usually Chianti.

Coffee with a little sugar or honey. Got to have caffeinated.
Started when I was little , my grandmother gave me a small cup. My grandfather’s hired hands would tell me it would make my toes turn black and fall off.
Of course, it was winter time and I had just ran down to the barn barefoot to tell them breakfast was ready!
