haha I hope so, that would be fun to watch.
His name still gets clicks, so someone always mentions him whenever there’s a decent NBA opening. I think that ship has sailed now that he’s getting older and is 25 years removed from coaching in the league though. I really doubt he’s actually on any team’s radar at this stage of his career.
Cal was an utter failure as a pro coach, why would the Knicks be that stupid.
Not sure NBA players would like to constantly be told when to “GO.”
Funny thing is, Cal would be walking into a situation where minor umm "tweaks" could literally put him in a position to win a world title.

If the Knicks hired Calipari I think New Yorkers would literally march on Madison Square Garden. That’s not even really a knock on Cal either, hiring a mid-60s guy who has only ever coached college would be an absolutely awful idea for any NBA team regardless of who that coach is.
Serious question. Do NBA coaches actually coach? Pretty sure you just cater to the star player or get fired. That’s a perfect retirement job for Cal. Sure he can find a team with a Cat on it. NY would be perfect.
John Tyson lol. But I mean, Nate Oats could have his pick of college jobs too and he’s staying at Alabama which is a worse job historically than Arkansas is.
I just cant see it. Even when he was peaking at Kentucky, there never seemed to be a real HARD push by NBA teams to get him. Unless im missing one, they always seemed to be rumors. Maybe a phone call to gauge interest.
But not, his most recent years as a coach have not been great. And that gets added to his failed years as the Nets coach. Plus hes that much older. Hiring him for a Knicks team that needs to win now, would cost people their jobs.

He may be a good NBA coach now, play fast and get them to defend. He pretty much defers to players now and makes it all about them anyway. Pros like being in control. He could let assistants game plan assuming he hired a good NBA staff, he is a great motivator.

You play over 100 games to win a title in the NBA .
I'm sure coaches that have coached in both college and the NBA would tell you that dealing with millionaires players is no harder than coaching 18 yr olds in college.

Cal has been coasting for a long time now, he's gotten fat and lazy and he's just using his status to carry him. NBA guys aren't going to be interested in a lazy ***, they're going to be look9ng for a guy with energy.

It is 2 nba coaches who have won a championship without a job right now that I can think of. I would think both would get a call before Cal would.
According to Bleacher Report Cal reached out to the Knicks and they said no.
Because they have been stupid for years. They need to go after Malone but they will screw it up. And not that many people care.
How did a master motivator take vastly superior talent and lose to St Peters and Oakland?
I'll be shocked if it is not Michael Malone or Johnnie Bryant who was the associate head coach for the Knicks from 2020-24.
