If remotely accurate, it flies in the face of the belief Cal left because we wouldn't cough up the NIL dollars.

If coach continues producing he will have all that he needs I truly believe that. Cal just wore people out failing over and over so a lot of it dried up. Any school that keeps underperforming and has issues with their coach will result in the same thing. Hubert is the one that comes to mind, he doesn’t have very long to them back on track imo

I believe Cal's roster building approach caught up to him with Boosters at UK as well. Casual fans got caught up in, and got a lot of their excitement from, recruiting the highest ranked high school kids. Having the notoriety of the #1 (or whatever it was that year) recruiting class coming in. But I think some of the Boosters consider themselves hard-core college basketball fans, and not just casual fans. They wanted to make long March runs (which they could travel to watch and enjoy) and be in contention for championships. When it became clear that Calipari wouldn’t change his roster building approach away from relying so heavily on freshmen, I think it turned some (a lot?) off.

Sounds like his methodology can be summed up as “l’m just guessing…”

But, hey, it got people to look at his tweet and post it on message boards. So mission accomplished!
We should prolly sue him …how dare he!!!

Not to defend Cal but his biggest burned bridge was the Crafts for not allowing Oscar to get used by Kelly for her campaign. I can see Cal's point for not allowing it.
Yeah , I remember hearing “whispers” about that but never new how true it was . He also burned some bridges when he knelt for the national anthem. If I had my say , I want our basketball players and our basketball coach to stay out of political situations.
