I have seen people predict Auburn winning anywhere from 3 to 9 games, so the jury is still out on them. Much like us, the game this weekend still may not tell you much about their team. If we get by them, I see us beating Vanderbilt.

After that, MTSU is really our only potential gimmie. I say gimmie, in the sense that if we beat Auburn and Vandy on the road we should be able to safely assume we can beat MTSU on he road. Past those games, the rest are severe up hill battles. Alot of people will say Houston should be a win, but I dont believe we can stop them and I certainly cant say we have the offense to keep up with them, yet.

...but if we do, I'd say we have real chances to beat Vandy and UK, too. Like you say, MTSU should be a win, and I watched Houston play a little the other day and I wasn't overly impressed. Everyone will agree that this is a "no ****, sherlock" statement, but the Auburn game is the key, and I could see us possibly getting to six wins if we pulled the upset.

My more realistic expectation is 4-8, and a 31-17 loss this weekend.

We should then beat MTSU, have shots at beating either Kentucky or Arkansas, (because beating both and beating MTSU would put us at 5 and 0 on the road...) and then an upset over the LSU, Florida, Ole Miss, Houston, Bama, or G Tech. I would say we would have a better chance at Houston. I think for the rebuilding year we are in, you couldnt have asked for a better way to open the SEC season. 2 games against the weaker teams in the SEC on the road. It gives these young guys experience in hostile environments, but doesnt put them in a situation against a team that should go out and crush them. Even if we only win 1 of the 2, I still think we have an outside chance at a bowl because im not sold on Georgia Tech or LSU, and with all of those games against the big schools at home, you never know what could happen.

And that game was a lot closer than the score indicated. La Tech hung with them for a solid 3 quarters. There were some key drops by La Tech on 3rd downs.

The freshman RB for AU is really good though. I don't see how they run the option with Todd at QB since he is absolutely no threat to run the football.

I would bring pressure all game and make the WRs beat you.

Defensively AU gave La Tech time, with Coleman being the only true pass rusher on AU's front four. I think the game should be close. If Croom could keep last year's game close against Tubby, Mullen should be able to do the same.

I'm anxious to see how they look against Clemson tonight .. their running attack is ferocious

This isn't quite accurate. Croom didn't keep this game close. It was a combination of our defense, and Auburn's complete and utter ineptness offensively. In fact, Auburn's ineptness was probably 80% of it. Hell, they turned the ball over how many times in the fourth quarter?

I would suspect most of that is fixed now. We didn't see those types of follies from AU last week.

...is going to roll us aGAIN. They are extremely well-coached, and I can't emphasize that enough. They also scheme very well. Torbush is already on record that we are going to be an aggressive, attacking defense, and that is matchup hell for us against them.

For that 6th win we are gonna have to upset some mighty strong teams. However, if Crooms could get the signature wins in the doldrums of the past decade, then why can't an invigorated 5 win Mullen coached team do it this year? Florida hasn't beaten us here in decades why should they start now? We are gonna be UP for the egg bowl this year at home. The crowd will be 17ing intense. That energy should count for something. If we beat Kentucky on the road and then come home after a good rest and come out to a sell out crowd at DWS against bama with a 5-4 winning record we will be fired up.

damn, where will we get that 6th win??? And do we go to a bowl game for sure with 6 wins?

I don't remember the MSU/AU game that well, but I thought MSU turned the ball over and missed FG's as well in that game.

It should be an interesting matchup since the offenses do seem very similiar.

Still a tough game for MSU considering the surroundings, but I thought the point spread was a little high.
