A kid from my home town school was on the cheerleader squad at dear ol NU.

What year was the last year for male cheerleaders at Nebraska?

I don't personally know the answer so I won't be responding with no or "winner".

Just curious if any one knows with out too much trouble.

I used to make fun of male cheerleaders. Then I was at a game years ago and watched the men help the women cheerleaders stretch. I became envious

I'm guessing around the same time they reduced the band size. Probably the Pedersen era. Maybe Byrne.

I can only remember the 1970’s. Too be honest I haven’t paid any attention to that.

I think 2003 might be closer than 08. We have seats in section 24 and just almost positive they weren't there in 08.

Sounds about right. I had friends both male and female who cheered at NU, I think they had mixed squad still around 05/06 or so but they had the all-women squad too and "grounded" them all shortly after so there were no lifts or stunts. Which probably led to no longer having a real need for the guys.

It was no joke for the guys. I remember my friend coming back from practice with the front of his shoulders bleeding from the girls' shoes scraping against him on those lifts. Even with how little those girls are, think of holding 100 lbs in the air all afternoon, you gotta be really strong.
