Turns out reports of Penn State's death are greatly exaggerated.

After a brush with death a month ago Penn State is starting to separate from the pack. Six #1 ranks will do that. And while Ohio State continues to move up the rankings, they just have not moved as far or as fast as Penn State.

From a low of 110.7 expected points on 12/15, Penn State is up to 150.7 expected points this week. Meanwhile, the hits just keep on coming for Iowa. After peaking at 108.3 expected points, they have seen their expected total decrease 34% to 71.5.

The race for third now looks like a dead heat between Iowa State and Oklahoma State, with Nebraska and Iowa battling for fifth.

Here are a few more to keep you warm on a cold winter night.

As things stand, Penn State is expected to have 7.8 AA's, and has a 2.3% chance of 10 AA's again this year.



That is a little off the pace of last year's team who at this time stood at 10.2% probability of 10 AA's.

But here is a fun one. As of this week, Penn State has a higher expected number of finalists (5.0) than Iowa has of total AA's (4.2).

Never know, however, with Kasak and PJ getting bigger and what if Messinbrink ever moves up to allow both of them below him (do not think that is an option). I have a hard time imagining Duke will redshirt though

Henckle, maybe Cunningham (he doesnt cut much for 184), maybe Kasak, Duke (who wrestled 172 in HS last year), or Messenbrink moves up. I would be happy with any of the above. Add getting Ono, and Desmond into the line up (somewhere)…I think we’ll be just fine next year.

I don't believe there is a staff anywhere going to get that kid off of his knees. Confronted with any alpha he is dropping to his knees and hoping. He self limits his own athletic abilities and it isn't changing.
Arnold is what he is, a strong as a bull, well conditioned athlete with no offensive skills. That isn't changing either. Arnold should just stay, they will probably let him start next year and he can get beat by PJ, Henckel or Cunningham - whoever claims the weight.
