Have you guys been watching? They are playing the best basketball in the ACC as of right now. Gonna be a TOUGH out. Athleticism and 3 point range.

That Larranaga guy knows what he's doing. And he's also had a good track record against Mike.

On the other hand, another chance for a quality win.

I seen them play a little over the weekend. They are gonna be tough and they are usually a pain in the butt against Duke anyway. I really think the whole acc schedule is gonna be tougher than we think with about two or three other teams being a surprise.

It looks a lot like a typical Laranaga team. They'll be able to beat anybody on any given night, but like a lot of other teams I think they'll also be susceptible to letdowns. It's going to be a crazy season in college basketball. I'm just not sure we're going to find a so-called "dominant" team.

They had as good a weekend as anyone in the country. They have some definite athleticism.

I'd definitely make them the favorite when we play them down there. That is like a black hole for Duke. Especially with our young guys and with Miami's athletes.

It will be a tough ACC and Duke could easily wind up 4th, with UNC, UVA and Miami all having quality teams. Plus, teams always give Duke their best game - more than any other team in the ACC.

I'd be more concerned with "how" we play them defensively.

Laranaga didn't exactly hide the fact after last years game that attacking Duke was easy because they never made any adjustments defensively. It wasn't really until after that we began to see a lot more zone from Duke. He basically spread the floor and ran isolation dribble penetration for 40 minutes that game.

If we see the same philosophy defensively I would expect the same outcome and Miami to win easily. If K plays zone or packs in the defensive pressure to eliminate penetration off the dribble or both...then we will probably win.

It just depends on the defensive game plan..I'm not to concerned offensively about us or us coming around. Especially as Thornton becomes more comfortable with what he can do.

With that top 10 recruiting class they got coming in, they are here to stay. Larranaga is a great coach and a great fit down there. UM is turning into a basketball school.

I really like that 1-3-1 zone we ran yesterday and hope to see it more going forward....the problem with our man defense is we are getting beat off the dribble far too often...the problem with our 2-3 zone is the glaring gap that at the free throw line and the easy passes around the perimeter.....the 1-3-1 with our length (Amile and Brandon) forces soft lofty passes and keeps our guys in position.

I mention it in this thread because it slows down the quicker teams that we have played and will play later in the year. We still need to get quicker and can't play 131 exclusively, but it's a nice switch to throw the opposition out of whack from time to time.

I think Wake could surprise people this year, they had a competitive, young team last year and have a senior Devin Thomas
