Overall, team gets a B. PSU has an unreal lineup and many matches were close and came down to the 3rd period. I liked the Hawks fight even though the team outcome was lopsided.
I think this is a fair assessment. I thought the Hawkeyes were agressive and most matches were close.

Tbf all Welsh did in that match was pet Angelo’s head🤯
What is he supposed to do? Ferrari went to a knee while disengaged in neutral 32 times for a total of 2 1/2 minutes of the match. That’s just embarrassing. Going to a knee while disengaged for longer than reaction time should be an auto stalling call. The thing is Angelo appears to not even understand how much that hurts him. He’s really good when he’s trying. If he wrestles a full 7, there’s no way he loses to Rocco.

Are you certain ? I think he does it for a reason .

He certainly does it for a reason, but whatever that reason is, he’s wrong. It probably cost him the match yesterday.
If he’d hit ankle picks from there, it could put him over the top. Maybe he’s planning on taking a knee 32x/match in the duel season and then after lulling the wrestling world to sleep start with the ankle picks in the post season…

Nobody is coming close to them in a dual. Maybe tOSU wins a couple (141/285) and possibly sneaks a 3rd win in somewhere, but that is it imo. 141 and 285 are the only weights PSU doesn't have very legit title contenders at, which is ridiculous. It wouldn't suprise me at all if they have 7 finalists this year. Yea, I can hardly wait.

The
I’ll give it a shot

125 - last year 1 takedown for, this year 3 takedowns against. D
133 - 2x finalist vs true freshman, one true slide by attempt in 3rd and nothing else. D-
141 - stole a TD in first, almost got carvered, Davis overrated. B-
149 - over matched, stop going to the seat belt, stay on the leg. C
157 - no answer for the true freshman. D+
165 - 7 loses in a row, same approach. Messenbrink is different but needs a different approach, coaching needs to do something different. C+
174 - completely controlled match, Gabe outmatched. Meet was out of hand, PK is starter through end of year, gotta give him the opportunity to figure out the opponent as he’ll see him at BT and NCAA. C
184 - on a knee, no offense. F
197 - should have seen Endenne. N/A
HWT - no offense, no fight, athlete regression. F
The "D-" for Drake and the "F" for Keuter are a bit generous.
I'd go a bit lower.
Both are marginal AA candidates. Think 6th place is the ceiling for both. More likely Blood Round.

PSU 51 Northwestern 0 today.

So there is that.
I’d be shocked if Iowa didn’t shut out the lineup that Penn State faced. The only question would be if Sampson is 197, and Sampson might even be favored in that one.
