The FIA had to have a tie going into the last race in mind. For better or worse, Mercedes just has the better car coming down the stretch.

I want Max to win just for something different, but this seems inevitable.

I don’t think he got screwed. Not sure what I think about the Hamilton smash in the back. But Mercedes has a decent gripe about the race stoppage. This circuit was wild. As bad as the Indy Car Nashville race.

Hamilton got the same break at Imola.

If he's not bitching, he's not breathing.

Unfortunately Max needs a miracle. Need another Silverstone and he wins based on 9 wins vs 8

I’m a Hamilton fan from way back for the simple reason that he was just a “commoner” that made it. Yes he’s flaky now, but I’m wanting him to get #8, partly because of Twitter speculation that he’ll retire as soon as he does. The young class in F1 is going to make for great racing.

My speculation on the rear collision is that information went to Max first, before Hamilton got it. Max had already pushed him off once so I don’t think Hamilton was willing to be beside him unless it was at full speed.

I agree that the track sucks. Twitter had pics of all the bad facilities, but I thought the track itself was bad. The tight fencing made it look like a big ditch with a designated passing spot.

I don't see any way Max wins the title now outside of something crazy happening in Abu Dhabi. Mercedes has found so much straight line speed and I don't think Red Bull can counter it. Additionally, Checo is nowhere near the teammate Vallteri is. This is Hammer's to lose.

I’m trying to understand the ruling at the end a bit. To say the lapped cars couldn’t pass and then allow them to pass was confusing.

Masi basically split the baby. Allowing all of the lapped cars to overtake would have taken long enough to force a finish under the safety car. Not allowing any to overtake would have made for a very anti climactic final lap. There is some grey area in the rule which F1 pointed out in denying Mercedes’ protest. They were clearly shooting for an exciting finish to the race and season - "Toto....it's a motor race. We went car racing."

Todays race was a microcosm of this season. Inconsistency has ruled the day all year. Only fitting that a funky rules interpretation decided todays race.

I can’t see it any way other than the fia literally decided which driver would win the championship. I look for ambiguity in the rules to become the norm as Liberty media is really marketing the drama of the sport.

They’ve been doing it all year, this one obviously sticks out like a sore thumb due to the stakes, but points count the same in every race and Max got his share of ****** rulings all season.

There is talk now of no longer allowing team principles free access to race control during races. Toto and Christian both spend so much time whining to Masi every Sunday, I’m not sure how they will fill their time if they can’t.
