I'm a former coach in the NAIA Mid South , love the game . Follow Ky HS some , after I gave up the coaching gig I dont follow it as closely as I used to .
Are the rankings out in Ky ?
How highly is Woodford Co ranked ? they blew by a very good Ohio team near my hometown in Ky last week . Beat them soundly .

Heading to Ripken Experience tomorrow to watch granddaughter play.

Weird play Monday: Girl took second on wild pitch & by the time she reached 2nd, ball was in pitcher's hands in circle. Net, when runner rounded 2nd to see if she could further advance, she was called out for being off base during a dead ball.

sounds like an ump that wanted to be seen .. unless the girl breaks the " one stop " rule and stops , then starts she shouldnt be called out .. Did the HC blow a gasket ? What age group ?

I love it. In fact, fast pitch softball was big in the 70’s and 80’s.

Got to see The King and His Court when I was in the service. They came to our base. Pretty cool. He would pitch blind folded. Pitch from 2nd base. His curve was unreal. Good show. Only had 4 players on his team. Pitcher, 1st base, catcher and outfielder.

I grew up in Clearwater, Florida home of the Multi World Champion Clearwater Bombers. Two of my high school teachers played on the team and are in the Hall of Fame. Herb Dudley one of the greatest fast pitch pitchers who ever lived and Doug Mason, third baseman. Fast pitch softball is an exciting sport and I saw some of the best who ever lived that came through that era. 1950's and 60's.

Only 4 times has a team gone through the ASA NATIONAL FASTPITCH TOURNAMENT without being scored on. The Bombers did it three times, 1950, 1957, 1968. The 1950 team went through district, state, regionals, and National Tournament without allowing a run.

In a five-year period Herb Dudley won 142 games and lost only 10 for the Bombers, striking out 2,475 batters, hurling 110 shutouts and 45 no-hitters. He hurled more than 100 no-hitters during his career. Dudley was so well respected by the Amateur Softball Association, the National Governing Body of Softball, that each year at the conclusion of the ASA Men’s Major Fast Pitch National Championship the Herb Dudley Outstanding Pitching Award is given to the tournaments most outstanding pitcher.

In the 1968 Nat’l Tournament pitchers King & Haney went through the entire event without allowing a run or walking a batter. Haney won the MVP by winning the batting crown, throwing a perfect game, & scored the winning run as the home team beat California.

high school. Coach said nothing. Runner just stopped and stood there. No second break that I noticed.

Saw them as a kid at old Covington Ball Park - now under I-75 5th Street exit. Actually, 4th player was SS, not outfielder. Played a group of local stars. 3-3 score

Great picture of The King. Remember his pitching between his legs, striking people out from 2nd base and only having one outfielder. Played Fast Pitch Softball for a couple of years after I moved to Texas and it was much harder to hit than a baseball, IMO. I was at Fort Hood in Central Texas for four years and they had some great fast pitch teams in the surrounding area.

As kids we saw his team play on The Wide World of Sports. We were amazed.

I think his name was Eddie Feigner.

I think they officially listed the three (position !) players as catcher, 1st baseman, and shortstop (but like you suggested -- was basically in short left center.

The King even pitched some blind-folded!

I found the following in wikipedia:

The King and His Court touring team played over ten thousand softball games in a hundred countries from the late 1940s to the beginning of the 21st century and achieved widespread fame similar to that of the Harlem Globetrotters. Feigner's meticulous records claim 9,743 victories, 141,517 strikeouts, 930 no-hitters and 238 perfect games. The Washington Post described him as "the greatest softball pitcher who ever lived." Despite his substantial record, Feigner said that while his team was known for taking on local softball teams and often winning by considerable margins, the intent of the King and His Court was to entertain audiences, never to embarrass opposing players. "When a man steps up to the plate, we have nothing but respect for him," he was noted for oft quoting.

In honor of his time in the Marine Corps, the King and His Court often played against military personnel, often at venues such as Army bases or the decks of aircraft carriers. They had also been known for donating considerable amounts of ticket profits to charity, and following Operation Desert Storm, had put veteran support as the chief charity they played for.

On February 18, 1967, Feigner appeared in a celebrity charity softball game against many Major League players. In the game Feigner struck out Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Brooks Robinson, Roberto Clemente, Maury Wills, and Harmon Killebrew all in a row.[1] Feigner also struck out Alan Chambers three times in a 1976 exhibition game.[2]
