The most impressive part is that they do not start a senior. I believe the starting five is one junior, three sophomores and one freshman. So it’s not like they built a veteran team through the portal. But rather an incredible job of recruiting at the mid-major level.

Coach May is looking at a large pay day in his future. The Owls were impressive last night.

Their arena is literally two minutes from my office. We’re located on the FAU campus. I’ve sadly never set foot inside. 🤦‍♂️

I loved the picture of Coach May when he was a student manager on Bobby Knight's Indiana team

Why the heck did Nowell give the ball up on the last possession? He is one heck of a PG.

Why did he not take the 3 at the 8 second mark? He was making everything inside the arena.
I watched his last 2 games. He jacks up 3's that would make Boo blush. But he hits 'em. Amazing player.

This year's tournament is a tribute to schools that can get any player they want. NU, Princeton, Penn, Duke, Stanford, Michigan, and for that matter most B1G teams and PAC12 can compete in this environment, but will not rise to the top. It is no longer about student athletes.

That was a super weird possession. I think everybody on the KState roster expected Nowell to take a pull-up jumper.

It hurt to see the purple wildcats go down.

Seems like the tournament has opened up for teams that have good programs and now under portal have been able to put themselves on a level with elite programs by bringing in key transfers.

Pretty sure I heard every KSU player arrived via the transfer portal?

Unreal. One of the best tournaments of my lifetime.
There have been lots of exciting games, but you know CBS and the NCAA are getting nervous about the potential lack of big names at the Final Four, especially if Texas loses tomorrow. FAU vs. SDSU / Creighton, and UConn vs. Miami? Those may be some good matchups but they won't get the TV ratings and won't make the casual fan in Houston want to scoop up tickets to watch in person. Now if Texas beats Miami tomorrow, it's a different story, at least in terms of demand for tickets.

Princeton had a Cinderella run this year…

UConn is a big name in hoops and Miami is a big name anywhere.

That's a nice high school arena there that they must use for training. Where do they play the games?

FAU coach did a great job using his big. He could defend outside the paint, was physical, did a great job posting up and ran the screen roll well.

Maybe Matt Painter could learn from this guy.

Conference USA already won the CBI. They have two teams in the NIT semis.

Wouldn't it be funny if Conference USA won all three tournaments?

Is Matt Painter going to magically give Zach Edey foot speed? Goldin is three inches shorter and fifty pounds lighter than Edey. Having Edey defend outside the paint would be silly.

FAU’s big man pulled a “Big Matt” and had his best game at the most important time. He was dynamite against KSU, just like NicholMAN was against UCLA.

Unfortunately we couldn’t keep up. Our players ran out of gas… again. If Boo returns, hopefully some new players will help provide more strategic depth at points.

FAU vs. San Diego State or Creighton is challenging from a marketing standpoint. Miami is not a big name in basketball.

Texas in the Final Four will fill the stadium with burnt orange. Not much buzz with the other teams, regardless of the quality of the games on the court.

He has had Edey for 3 years, did not see a lot of improvement. How about a left handed jump hook or drop step. He still cannot do that. Requires no foot speed

My impression was all the final four teams had a ton of depth although I wasn't keeping close track. Seems like all the winning teams kept rolling out player after player with similar intensive defense and offensive skills.

I'll be rooting for FAU to win the whole thing. They did it through excellent recruiting and are a very young team. Unlike KSU, they didn't rely on the transfer portal.

I wouldn't include Michigan or Duke basketball on this list. These 2 will recruit and accept almost anyone. Not near same academic standards for basketball players.

Well, UConn rolled out waves of depth because they were stomping the zags. FAU had depth and continuity. We'll see today what prevails - Texas has experience and above-average depth, Miami has experience and below-average depth. SDSU has the trifecta of experience, depth and continuity from last year, while Creighton has continuity but no depth whatsoever.

Would he use the left handed jump hook to defend outside the paint? It requires foot speed to defend on the perimeter.

Good point about Edey not making any improvement though. Painter is a total bum. Was just handed a three-time national player of the year who recruiting experts conspired to hide by ranking him as the 76th best center and in the mid-400's overall nationwide. I mean, the guy walked into Purdue as a double-double machine as a fresh...

Oh, wait, never mind.
