I am going to get slammed by some for saying this but Love Actually is a pretty good Christmas movie. At least to me. And I love most of the versions of a Christmas Carol.
Four Christmases seems to keep getting funnier every year. My favorite “recent” Xmas movie is The Night Before. Hilarious. Also office Christmas party was pretty funny last night
Old Christmas Carol movies are best. Best Scrooges are Alastair Sim, George C Scott, Albert Finney, and Patrick Stewart. Honorable mention for an ineligible movie: Michael Caine.
Scrooged, Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Emmet Otter's Jug-band Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and A Garfield Christmas Special are in my top tier.
Gremlins, Batman Returns, Die Hard, and Edward Scissorhands get honorable mentions. As does The Wizard of Oz; all through the '80s, my family usually watched one of its many annual Christmas week airings.
The Simpsons's "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" and South Park's "Woodland Critter Christmas" are favorite television Christmas episodes, same with a number of The Office Christmas episodes.
I've never seen It's a Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th Street.
I didn't see the Star Wars Christmas Special until 1997. Kinda wish I hadn't. XD
Original animated Grinch from the 60s
Charlie Brown Christmas
Christmas Vacation
Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer
Frosty the Snowman
Jim Carrey Grinch (it’s so bad that it’s good)
One thing I wish Scrooged had a little bit better of: editing and production. Too many scenes needed to be reshot, inexplicable scene cuts and jumps, etc
Still love this movie from top to bottom.. but I do laugh at times when I watch it every year and think "who was editing this?!".
"Adored! Ahhhh ha.. Let's be honest, Lou.. you paid for the women!
