What is your favorite line from a song?

Mine is from Triumph — the song is Magic Power — the line is:

Music does the talking says the things you want to hear.

It was the first line that connected me to music.

Meanwhile far away in another part of town
Ruben Carter and a couple of friends were driving around
The #1 contender for the middleweight crown
had no idea what kind is **** was about to go down

Hmm, this here song it ain't so sad
The cutest little song you ever had
Those of you who will not sing
You must be playing with your own ding-a-ling

Recently dug this one:

Oh, I close my eyes and
Fractal inner rings of varicose resign
Coiled dark inside
I’ll open my eyes and clear my
Throat when I know it’s time

You won't need too much persuading
I don't mean to sound degrading
With a face like that you got nothing to laugh about

May the good Lord
Shine a light on you
Make every song you sing
Your favorite tune

So now I'm praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
Cause if I have to spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I could do right now
I'm praying for the end of time, that's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time, so I can end my time with you

I met a girl who sang the blues,
and I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
So I went down to the sacred store
where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music
wouldn't play----
And in the streets, the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died

Where Rainbows Never Die by The Steeldrivers (Stapleton)

I'm an old man now, I'm bound for glory
Time to lay these burdens down
Had enough of this old world of worry
Gonna trade my troubles for a crown

The Spirit of Radio by Rush

Begin the day with a friendly voice
A companion unobtrusive
Plays that song that's so elusive
And the magic music makes your morning mood

Descending by Tool

Sound the dread alarm
Through the primal body
Sound the reveille
To be or not to be
Rise
Stay the grand finale
Stay the reading of our swan song and epilogue
One drive to stay alive
Elementary
Muster every fiber
Mobilize
Stay alive

"We've had it with your discipline."

"Saturday nights alright for fighting" by Elton John. Sung it at a unit Christmas party where they were singing Karaoke. During that line I was on the Commanders and the First Sergeants table pointing at them. Yes, I was inebriated. It was during a singing competition voted on by everyone there. $100 for first, $75 for second, and $50 for third. Now, I can't sing a lick but got third for my antics alone. Jumping on their table and pointing at them during that line got the unit laughing and to their (commander and first sergeant's) credit, they laughed too. Oh yeah, and by the way, the party was on a Saturday night.

That's a helluva "line". ;)

So Mary, climb in
It's a town full of losers
And I'm pulling out of here to win

And we'd steal away every chance we could
To the backroom, to the alley or the trusty woods

Wendy, let me in, I wanna be your friend
I wanna guard your dreams and visions
Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims
And strap your hands 'cross my engines

So many good lines from that Seger song I just didn't know which one to choose.

Pick your poison

She was a black haired beauty
With big dark eyes
And points of her own sitting way up high
Way up firm and high

....

We were just young and restless and bored
Livin by the sword

.....

Woke last night to the sound of thunder,
how far off I sat and wondered
Started hummin a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closin in

So many great lines

Love this one from Reckless Kelly:
So, darling, here's my message
Read it loud and clear
Get your head out of your *** and get your *** right out of here
Cause there's no percentage in this
There ain't nothing to be won
Lovin' you's the dumbest f***ing thing I've ever done

Simple but always loved it:

Just when you think you got it down
Your heart in pieces on the ground
They whisper, promises in the,
one two three four
Dark

From the Book of Dylan

God said Abraham, kill me a son..,
Abe said man, you must be puttin' me on...
God said NO!
Abe said WHAT?
God said you can do what you want Abe, but the next time you see me commin' man, you better run....
Abe said where you want this killin' done?
God said out on Highway 61...

Overhead the albatross
Hangs motionless upon the air.

Really love your peaches. Want to shake your tree.

Well I heard Mister Young sing about her
Well I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well I hope Neil Young will remember
A southern man don't need him around anyhow.

We don't need no education. We don't need no thought control. No dark sarcasm in the classroom.

I was thinking of "The screen door slams, Mary's dress waves. Like a vision, she dances across the porch as the radio plays" as a damn good one

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I'm not sure what Howard does with his studio but the musicians always sound incredible. Thought you might enjoy.
