The Green Bay Packers have hired John Donovan as a senior analyst on April 18. 2022

Didn’t CJF run him off?

David Corley also joined the Steelers today as an assistant quarterbacks coach.

Exactly. Just ask Urban Meyer. 😏
You and every other poster on this site would give both testicles to be as successful as Urban Meyer has been. 187-32 with 3 Natties.....lot's of great college coaches have nose planted in the NFL....Spurrier, Saban, Holtz and Bud Wilkenson.....just to name a few.
I don't happen to like his personality etc. But to deny his coaching genius in college is just pure couch coach ********.
He's worth an estimated 35 million which I think goes a long way toward "healing "the terrible wounds some people think he has suffered. In addition, he'll likely be back raking in the cash on some sports channel this fall.

Be all you said as it may, he’s made himself worthy of ridicule. If some of us get our kicks by pointing out his myriad missteps, who’s to care?

Almost forgot that Wilkinson coached in the NFL...fifteen years after he retired from Oklahoma. Somewhere I imagine he wishes he could forget, too.

I thought Spurrier would burn up the NFL. I thought that if any college coach could do it it’s be him.

Alright, is “college-coach-can’t-hack-it-in-the-pros” a real thing or no? I have to say yea, and am wondering exactly why this is the case.

IDK Bobby Ross won a National Championship (Ga Tech) and coached in a Super Bowl.
The biggest difference I see with him and some that have failed is, he was at least an assistant in the pros, for more than 1 season. In the pros you are coaching grown ups (or should be) while in college they are still kids (or should be) Recruiting is a key in college, irrelevant in the pros. Pros that cant do a deep dive into the X's & O's are laughed at.
In college the great ones (for the most part) have 100% control, in the pros they arent always given that.
there are college guys that can make it, but if they dont have a pro coaching background, imo they will struggle.

Because ridicule doesn't start and stop with Meyer. In this thread alone, Corley, and Donovan joined the party. Why don't we throw in Rahne who was ridiculed here (just got an extension) and MY was hailed as the offensive savior....oh well....doesn't matter who the OC is it's all CJF's fault.

Yes. All that. Well, we’ll all muddle through somehow.

Good call on Bobby Ross, a fine coach.

Jimmy Johnson...Pete Carroll....Paul Brown was decent ;) Barry Switzer won natties and a super bowl.....ala Jimmy J.
Had a lot of interaction with Bobby Ross when he was at West Point. He was trying to get NYSPHSAA Championship Games played at Michie Stadium. I was on the committee and we would meet with Coach Ross in his office and he would make it sound like it would be a seamless decision and then we would be required to meet with the bean counters and it was a different story. Aside from being a good coach, he was a real gentleman. He put me back in touch with a former assistant of his from Maryland that was one of my college coaches.
