Probably the 2nd most egregious group for fraud after the federal gov't is the education field. I work in it and see it every day and just like gov't its cronyism at its finest.
I didn't even mention the million $$ consulting contracts he gave out. Raw corruption. If this happened at PSU we'd be going nuts. Similar things have happened but this was so bad that the governor (who installed him) and the state CFO called for an audit. On the guy from their "team".
District of Columbia | Former State Department Budget Analyst Pleads Guilty to Embezzling More than $650,000 | United States Department of JusticeDisagree about ‘fraud’ in the government - it’s mostly waste and abuse. The biggest offenders are defense and contracting companies. There is a reason McLean is full of multi-million dollar homes (hint: no feds live in them) - they’re owned by guys who made millions in government contracting. For example:

Cancelling congressional approved/appropriated funding for contracts that are at odds with current administration priorities is not rooting out ‘fraud’. It’s resource reallocation. Let me know when someone is actually charged with defrauding/misuse of government funding.
Think this is happening at PSU (@PSUFTG ).
Yeah we have tons of 'consultants' who sit on their rears all day making 150K. It's not all 'fraud' but there are quite a few 'programs' that get large amounts of funding and that money is used for other things though the books may say otherwise. Athletics budgets get 'realigned' every year just so that we can use part of it for somebody's family to get a new vacation home or send some board members on a system sponsored conference. Textbooks/curriculum are another place they always put more $ in to the budget than they actually used for those things, plus general supplies like tissue, TP, paper towels etc., there are never enough of those supplies as that $ gets syphoned into personal slush funds for othersI didn't even mention the million $$ consulting contracts he gave out. Had a principal that I worked with in Baltimore city, who was making 200K, completely leave the profession to work in ...... textbook sales. He knew he could make more than that each year just in sales to Baltimore city and other local districts due to all of the $ put in to that pot each year but that it didnt get used that way.Believe me, I've audited one of the largest school boards in the country and done some consulting on town/city purchasing departments. You do not need to actually commit fraud to totally soak a government entity. Like the one I referenced. No actual fraud was committed, but putting new controls in place surely points to rampant waste and abuse.
Textbooks are a good one. Look to who owns the book companies, it's always a friend of the people complaining about the old books.

Too hot too often. Hellacious sun exposure. Better roads connected to strip malls. Women in various stages of alligator skin. Too many smokers. No hills. No forests. Higher hurricane exposure correlated with geographic desirability. Limited neighborhoods with historical character. Why not live there?
