It's weird how he said he chose Nebraska because he felt they were "genuine". But just prior to that he was being the opposite of genuine by playing the hat game, donning the Illinois cap, then throwing it twenty feet away. I know, "He's just a kid making one of the biggest decisions of his life". He'd do well by following the "genuine" example of Rhule and Co. But to each his own.

Every year these college football players, can't even call them college students, become more and more unlikeable. It's very hard to root for such a bunch of douchebags. Growing up it was my favorite spectator sport but no longer. I pay attention because I have relatives and friends who still do and they want to talk about it and expect the old Mile High Lion to still be interested so I still watch a bit just for the social aspect of it.

Absolutely classless and also moronic as it burns a bridge as others have pointed out. Really disheartening to see this kind of behavior from some of these kids :(
I'll bet his grandma is young enough to be his grandpa's daughter. #science

Oh, now, come on! this is obviously trashy and just dumb ... but, please ... football players have been jerks and d-bags since forever (not all, obviously ... but a healthy portion). It's just that now there's more video evidence and widespread reporting.

I’ll bet formal scientific studies would demonstrate that in-womb exposure to cigarette smoke leads to chronic douchebaggery, lifelong loserhood, and microp*nis. #foregoneconclusion

Hmm...no, I've been around college athletes a long time and it's worse. Sure there were jerks and d-bags back in the day but it's different now and it's not just football players but people, specifically Americans because that's who I'm around, in general. Sure I sound like an old crank but I'm 100% convinced of it and the past 5-10 it's really accelerated. The level of arrogance, entitlement and self-absorption is through the roof. I don't know why. I could offer my examples and theories but that would take too long, but years from now people will be writing books trying to figure out what happened.

But let me be clear, I don't even think the kid is wrong. I mean he is wrong for being a jerk but there is no penalty for that and he's just doing what is best for himself. If you don't look out for yourself who will? JoePa was a great human being who dedicated his whole life to one institution and making the world a better place and in the end he got a kick in the *** and thrown under the bus for no reason. So maybe people like this high school recruit are the smart ones and anyone else is a fool. I don't know.

Okay, enough of my rant. I have a tee time.

Sorry to hear about your plights. You've had it rough.

But how did your mother smoke through her who-ha, so that you were exposed to smoke in the womb? That's talent.

Every generation craps on the generations that follow them. They all have their reasoning for why this generation or that generation after them is less intelligent, less motivated, less kind, less brave, etc.

This isn't some novel idea, or great discovery you've made. It's just the circle of life.

Our society and our culture in general is experiencing a precipitous decline. Look around you. Why should athletes be any different? We are all gifted...special and need to be celebrated. Or we're playing the victim card. It's all a mess.

We're a couple of generations away from blacks needing to drink from separate water fountains and needing to attend their own schools, a generation away from my gay friends feeling pressured to stay in the closet and/or not have some of the rights that I have, a generation away from many openly wondering if a black player could handle the QB position, etc. I'll happily live in the world that's "declined" over that.

It sucks that we are a generation away from being able to drink a case of green grenades at the Skeller… life stinks!

‘Declining’ to be honest. And likely to get worse.
