And very much continuing Lost’s legacy of fan theories and puzzle finding. I didn’t think I’d like this show but it’s way, way more than I thought when I heard ‘employees of a company live separate lives than their work counterparts.’ S2 finale is soon and hoping it delivers - any good fan theories out there? I have a few but will save for later - please note ‘spoilers’ for folks who may want to check the show out (which I highly recommend).

We are currently two episodes in on Zero Day with Robert De Niro among others. Lots of twists and turns. We are very much enjoying it and trying to figure out when some of the reveals/ questions answered will happen. ( 6 episodes long ).

Lumon controls everything, both innies and outies. It is their grand scheme to control people by dampening all of their “appetites”. This has a very religious “cult” feel to it. Almost as if Mormonism and Scientology had a baby!

I usually love these weird mystery type TV shows, but I watched 2 or 3 episodes of this one, and I was just bored. I just didn't care about the people, or why they were doing whatever they were doing.

Maybe I'll give it a go again at some point, but I was really looking forward to this, since it's right up my alley, genre-wise, and got such rave reviews ... and it just fell completely flat the first go-round.

Yes we are watching it. Can’t really talk about it without giving spoilers. But that down up elevator on the inside was genius by the company.

watched zero day as well. Pretty decent.

Biggest questions:

1. What is Mark/MDR refining? We know it’s called Cold Harbor and related to a room ‘below’ - but what’s in it? Every other room Gemma goes into is a place of trauma…

2. How/why did they kidnap Gemma? Targeted? Random? Is Mark important in some way? He gets away with a lot…

3. How in the world is Devon married to Rickon?!?

4. What is Lumon’s ultimate goal? Create life? Feels a bit ‘Being John Malkovich’-ish to me; eternal life?

5. Helly pregnant???

I'm laboring thru it. Acting is great the subject matter causes lapse in my attention span. Still deciding if I like it or not and I'm on season 2.

Probably the best show going right now. I think S2 is better than S1. Has a very "Fargo"ish vibe.

I almost didn't make it past the first 2-3 episodes. Agree that they were pretty boring and didn't seem to be going anywhere. It picks up after that and the season 1 finale is really interesting. Definitely worth another try.

Yeah, I don't know ... I'm fine with a slow-paced, methodical grind ... I like the build ups, the search for clues, the slow reveals, the misdirections, etc. ... in this instance, I literally just didn't care to know who these people were and what situations they were in. Every character was uninterestingly annoying and I found myself not giving a poop about the numbers or the staircase, or any other plot points. Maybe I was just cranky when first watching it.

You know what is funny. I had just watched the series,Rome and also Spartacus, a while back and jumped into game of thrones when they were over and watched the first 3 episodes of got and I wasn’t into it. A year later I started watching it and it became my favorite series all time.

I watched the first episode of Peaky Blinders and didn't get the hype at all. Came back years later to resume and glad I did.

The finale was, how to put it, really over the top and suspenseful and violent. Season 3? Maybe yes maybe no.

Finally watched the finale - still processing. Love that there is going to be a S3 but curious as to where it will go. I do feel they only revealed half of what I really wanted to know about Cold Harbor - I get that they’re creating ‘ consciousnesses’ for Gemma but for what purpose? We know the severance process works; why the need for 25 additional tests that end with the death of the subject? As explained it doesn’t work well IMO. Also, why kidnap Gemma? Had they been watching them? Was/is Rickon a spy? Did they need a couple to conduct Cold Harbor? Maybe they’re saving it for next year - just disappointed there wasn’t some steak to go with the sizzle.

I will take Gemma being freed though - that was my red line.

They were testing if the block held when presenting different scenarios to Gemma to induce emotional reactions. Their goal is to produce humans who are always in control of their emotional side. From a psychological perspective, the oldest parts of our brain react to the environment, fear, anger etc. that reaction can be strong and most times overwhelms the thinking, Rational portions of our brains. I think Lumon is trying to “sever” those parts of a brain so the person will be docile, and, ultimately controllable.

Other observations: awesome that Gwendolyn Christie beat the crap out of another guy (see GOT). Also did you notice the pregnant fireplace statues (one of them was Kier). The animatronic Kier was creepy. His consciousness is in that friggin robot, especially how he humiliated Milchick. Next season may be the revolt of the innies led by Milchick.

I still don’t get why they need MDR, Mamamlias Nurturables, secret rooms, etc. - why not just be a progressive scientific company and get volunteers? If Mark was refining data for Gemma - who is everyone else refining data for? Some ‘Lost’ sized plot holes IMO…

Milchick is the most patient man on the planet. He’s gonna snap big time.
