He should have just waited for Neeli to go away. At PSU, lying is a positive!Essentially, he - adamantly and repeatedly - made statements that the folks in Florida (and probably any other reasonably intelligent receptors) took as bald-faced lies.
"His agent, Todd Richard Branch, told media outlets that it's a big misunderstanding, and other prominent schools are now reaching out to his client." He cited Eastern Kentucky and Alaska-Fairbanks as examples.

That type of behavior may be becoming (slightly) less acceptable in higher-ed leadership situations.
Add to that the fact that just months after agreeing to a long-term deal with Michigan, he bolted for more money at first sniff (at least he thought he was bolting for more money - he may now have to locate another institution desperate enough to hire him).
The bigger question, I think, is why would the trustees at UF ever have convinced themselves that Ono was a good choice?
They got "BoG"ged down?Sorry - it was the Board of Governors, not the Board of Trustees, who disapproved of his hiring; apparently the Florida BOT voted in favor to hire him but were overruled by the BoG.
