I guess it depends on what is considered ‘core’ subjects, but there are lots of athletes in some of these ‘niche’ majors who, if they continue to have to pay school, may find somewhere else to go…

Also, not sure how this affects a private school like Miami…(@GrimReaper ?).

No. "Core" as defined by the NCAA are HS classes and the bill doesn't address those.

As for college classes and eligibility, there is enough garbage and friendly deans at almost any school so that it's not a problem.

Thanks - I mean if this legislation eliminates popular athletic majors like African American Studies, criminal justice, etc., from public universities in Florida, would Miami have to follow suit or as a private can they do what they want?

Private schools can do what they want.

Depends on the school. Not a given that certain majors are "friendly" to athletes at all schools. I'm sure that the state schools in Florida have enough majors to park athletes without having to worry about the ramifications of DeSantis's directives. If not, they can simply copy the entire curriculum of LSU.

It’s more than just those specific areas, but diversity/equity is for sure offered to support many majors. For example:
