Meh. Yes and no. I’m sure there are plenty of old school coaches that would have told Dotson he was a rookie getting paid a lot of money and is expected to be at practice. Ron Rivera seems to get the big picture. There’s more to life than football and Dotson deserved to celebrate his achievement. Good for both of them. It’s a refreshing moment in a crazy world right now.

Didn't he have cancer or something - perhaps going through that brought him some focus.

That said, I am sure when Dotson goes through mini-camp, the niceties will end and the intensity will begin.

Rivera is a Cal grad. And he was a pretty good linebacker for the Golden Bears, too. Way back in the day.
