I call B.S. Franklin doesn’t strike me as the kind of person who would tell a recruit before it’s official.
This is the big league . Maybe he said remember this is on the DL before he told him or a pinky swear ?

If true, not a great look. If MY wasn’t there to meet a QB recruit I think there may be something to this….that said, if you know you’re going to fire him, why trust him with one of your most important games of the year? Should have made the move after OSU…

Franklin doesn’t strike me as that kind of person either but Occam's Razor. Why would a recruit make it up?
It may have been along the lines, are you committing to me and the school or the OC as things can and do change. I highly doubt any HC tells a recruit prior to a game the OC was canned in a game he was about to call.....and contrary to the stupidity....MY did call that game.

I think the only newsworthy thing to chase down here is to ask Franklin why Yurcich was not there pregame to meet with a key recruit? That is odd, but perhaps there is a less sinister explanation?

Another observation: I know recruiting is the lifeblood of college football, but how crazy is it being Franklin prepping for one of the biggest games of the year and then stepping out pregame to have a conversation with a recruit and pretending to have to care about what they’re doing? “Hey man, what’s your new highest score on Halo 6, etc.?” “Saw your highlight reel from that playoff game-sick dope!” when in the back of your mind it’s freaking game day and making sure your players are ready for the game!

I know the guy makes a bunch of money and all coaches do this on game day, but that’s pretty nuts and a pretty crazy distraction. Would be great to not have to worry about recruits and just be single minded focused on the game about to be played!

If MY had a clue he was going to be fired going into the MICH game, could that have caused him to give Franklin a big F*** You and call a bad game on purpose? Or maybe he was desperate to get a win so he wouldn't be fired and simply choked under pressure.

Nevertheless just another chapter in the ineptitude of the
The former?

There were multiple quarterback recruits on campus on Saturday. Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe Yurcich was in a meeting with another QB recruit? Or actually prepping for a game which was only hours away? Nah, innuendo, speculation and stone throwing is way more fun than reality!

Agreed. Everyone just wants to be negative right now. Think about the position CJF was in. He knows the O is dysfunctional and he may need to make changes. A kid comes to him and says something like "coach, I love the school, program and coaches. I'd like to commit to PSU!" What do you do?

First, no staff stays complete for six years (which is this kid PSU shelf life). CJF wants to make sure the kid knows he is committing to a program and not a coach. CJF also needs to be aware that the kid could flip if the OC gets fired. So he simply says "Great! But to be clear, the staff could change and probably will. I just want to make sure you know that and are committing to the school and program, not an individual coach". To me, that is pretty cool and smart.

If true, and it's a big "IF" then Franklin made a mistake allowing Mike Yurcich to run the offense against Michigan. There were at least two plays and one decision in the 4th quarter that coach Franklin should have overruled, but did not. With that said I'm not sure what happened.

Do you think CJF is allowing MY to meet with anyone if he already knows he's going to fire him on Sunday (assuming the decision was made already)? Or do you think that decision wasn't made until after the game? Whatever MY was doing was a waste of time either way given the horrible performance (that, in spite of itself, may have led to a win were it not for a series of blunders that all happened right in a row - penalty on Hardy return, Allar intentional grounding, then Allar fumble....)....

Hey, this kid might have a real talent for getting coaches to bare their soul and inner most thoughts. Maybe we should send him to Ann Arbor to uncover all the details from Jimmy.

There isn't anything going to change with CJF, no wishin', no hopin', gonna change him. He's no game day coach and proves it over and over again. Hey, but if one (such as the Admin and AD) are happy with 10-2 and an annual bowl game, there we be. Of course the buyout, as it is right now, simply doesn't make sense; and so, gving him a bad review won't really accomplish anything. Going foreward, leaning hard into who he hires and who he fires though, should be exercised. Yeah, some may say he should be able to do whatever he wants as head coach, but everybody has a boss, at least where I worked and I still had to run every hire and fire up the totem pole.

What I don’t get is Franklin is the HC, a former OC and has a headset. If he doesn’t like how MY is calling the game, deviating from the game plan and not getting Allar more easy completions as he pointed out in his PC right after the game, why not take over the playcalling? As a head coach you can’t just say you didn’t like how the game was called, especially after the OSU game. It’s your responsibility to take over and take control. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice…

My gut feeling is leaning that way.
Not a great look for MY but he can probably explain himself out of this in future job interviews.

“I was instructed to emphasize the run game by Franklin, even after halftime and at end of the 3rd quarter. Trautwein kept barking at Franklin that PSU had the better OL and would eventually wear down Michigan’s DL I and others knew this wasn’t true, but I did as I was told”

You have been barred for life from membership to the BWICAC.

Imagine a football coach being asked to multi task on game day?

The core values of the mob, known as the BWICAC. 1. Frankin does everything wrong. 2. #1 is our only rule.

Makes too much sense and doesn't advance the premise that we deserve better 😔
