Ferris Bueller's Day off was released on this day 40 years ago. Let that sink in. I remember my date. I had locked my keys in my car. I had to have my dad bring up the trunk key so I could crawl through the trunk of my Mustang to get the keys on my date. Too funny. 40 years guys...

It is shocking how fast it goes...what is the saying, the days are long but the years are short.

It feels like just yesterday I was in my late 20's and my only worries were which bars we would meet up for happy hour or which golf course we would play on Saturday and then which bars we would hit up after golf.

It seemed like those times would just never end.

I was newly engaged and my fiance and I saw it at a theatre in Lincoln. I was a young pup at 27 years old. Seems like yesterday. I know that sounds cliche but to all you young dudes on here, it is cliche because it is true. And isn’t that one of the great things about the movie? It is all about enjoying life and youthfulness while you have it. About not missing the joy of the moment.

My favorite part of the 80’s was the freedom to crap my pants without the judgement of others. I also anticipate this to by my favorite part of the 2060’s.

I wouldn't worry about that either... By that time every room in a nursing home will have an Optimus robot to gently wipe our Asses LOL

over rated movie imo.. Broderick was good, but 1 movie turned him into a god I guess
I don't think he is really considered to be a mega star, is he?

I would sort of put him in the Steven Guttenberg category.

Broderick: Ferris Bueller, War Games, Election, Glory

Guttenberg: Policy Academy, Short Circuit, Cocoon, Three men and a baby

Both are sort of big names and you have seen their stuff but neither are superstars.

It would be hard to estimate the number of times over the years that my wife has said, "Oh my god, you're dying?" The supporting cast in this movie was incredible, Ed Rooney and Grace haha! "With your bad knee Ed, you shouldn't be throwing anyone. It's true." I think Edie McClurg was truly the star of this movie.

I think both of your examples are of mega stars personally. Broderick landed a role in his youth that was one of the most iconic movies of the decade that still lives on to this day, even the house the ferrari went thru the glass wall is still being talked about (it recently went up for sale) ...and War Games? Waaaay ahead of its time and almoat as big as Ferris Bueller

Guttenberg had several blockbusters as well.

If they aren't mega stars i'm not sure what would qualify as one.

Better hope it’s like that instead of being like Canada where the government tries to convince you to have assisted suicide
