Original thesis was to figure out why, despite having two 1,000-yard rushers that defense had to respect, Penn State's play action passing game last year was less of a weapon (fewer yards/attempt, fewer Average Depth of Target) than Kotelnicki's play action attack at Kansas in 2023. Unfortunately, the answer was mostly Allar. A lot of the mechanical inconsistencies from 2022 and the hesitation to push the ball downfield (in other words, be detrimentally overly safe) resurfaced in play-action...especially late in the season when the wide/outside zone running game really took off.
