No doubt. Some will say MSU and Neb are lesser opponents and they are, but so were Nevada, FIU and Villanova. It's pretty clear something changed.
I rewatched the Nebraska game yesterday. Nebraska gave Penn State a bit of a game. They had some great drives and made some great plays, but Penn State thwarted them most times. I was most surprised with their QB, as I did not remember him doing too much. The thing is, once Nebraska got behind, they had to throw, and the pressure they got on the QB was pretty good. Penn State bottled up the running game, too, for the most part. Nebraska's defense is more than a bit suspect, but Penn State did a good job taking advantage of things - and getting plays done. After watching the game, I was actually more impressed with Penn State's performance than I was while watching the game in real time.

Exactly. One would have to try and screw up this run game - James Franklin says hello and the analytics said to split the carries and rest the backs.
Many of you were on board with splitting carries. Some that were against splitting carries actually wanted Singleton to be the #1.

Many were also against a run first offense. I remember people telling me we needed to pass and teams could not win with a run first offense even though Michigan won the year before with run first. Some also thought Allar was a Heisman candidate. WTH were you watching?

For the last three years we had No WRS, inconsistent QB, good run blocking OLmen, and good RBs. Run the damn ball.

None of us are the coaches. Pointing out that some of us might have been strategically wrong serves what purpose exactly? Hindsight is 20/20.

We're not the Head Coach making eight plus million a year. The previous coach should have known better. Terry fixed it.

Once someone got in Kotelnicky's ear about stopping being so cute, things really changed. It's one thing to note that Kaytron has been excellent, and deserves 25 carries a game - but Nick has also come on over the past couple weeks with Terry in charge. Singleton had 100+ yards of total offense between pass/run vs Nebby.

AK said recently that they thought at the beginning of the season they wanted to incorporate the portal receivers they paid for and looking back maybe they should have focused on the proven players (RBs) they already knew.

I will say this about Terry Smith - he changed something in the coordinators. Whether he got them to dumb things down or simply got on their *** about being overly exotic, it seems to be working. Something Franklin didn’t seem capable of, which seems insane to think the HC couldn’t have that sort of influence on his coordinators.

Last year in the playoffs, I started to lose faith in Kotelnicky because he got too cute at times when it was obvious that we could run it down anyone’s throat. Then it leaked and escalated into this year. Smith was able to wrangle him - maybe even to the point where I wouldn’t mind if Smith kept him around if they were to keep the band together. Maybe Coach K just needs the guardrails that BGJ wasn’t capable of providing.

For everything that he did for this program, as a fan, I will always be grateful of Franklin. But man, on game day, he was dog ****..
