ASHTON JEANTY FILM STUDY

See link. We specifically scouted the only two games this season where Jeanty avg. less than 5 yards a carry (1st UNLV game and San Diego St.) Sorry to be boring but it basically comes down to overcompensating to stop the run (luckily BSU doesn’t have a passing game to keep us honest) and whether our 2nd and 3rd level defenders can fit properly and tackle in space (which is somewhat terrifying). Jeanty is very Barry Sanders-ish not in run style but in game rhythm : 1 yard, -1 yards, 2 yards, 80 yards.

Curt Warner out gained 2 Heisman winners in consecutive bowl games, Singleton and Allen - will they combine to do something similar with a Heisman runner up?

The two picks notwithstanding, I'm most worried about Deluca/Elsdon getting to the hole

The scariest aspect of this game is PSU’s ability to tackle vs. the BSU running back.
based on the games to date, your fear seems justified. We have had tackling issues with multiple backs. presumably this guy is more of a load than any other back we have seen. our defense run stats look a little better due to QB sacks.

This kid reminds me of Saquon. He can change direction twice before he gets to the line of scrimmage. If our guys do maintain gap integrity he will go for 130-150. If they don't he'll probably go for north of 200.

He isn't a projected 1st rounder for nothing. That being said, he hasn't played a defense anywhere near as fast and tough as PSU's. He'll get some yards, but it won't be enough to keep Boise State in the game.

They will cheat on expected run downs and hopefully guess right on passing downs getting back to their coverage areas.

Focusing on the run too much may make their qb and receiver look awesome which psu always does so well. How many guys have their best game against us. Allen doesn’t attack as much as manny and in this game that is a good thing.

If he goes for 130-150, PSU wins.
