Ive been watching college basketball since the 70s and this is the only year I can remember that the final 4 wasn't on one of the big networks. Its been on CBS for a long time but was on NBC in late 70s early 80s.

Is this a sign that college basketball is falling further and further behind college football in popularity?

Football has become a bidding war and basketball is relegated to TBS.

They have 3 different broadcasts going on. There is a UofK stream, a Wisconsin stream, and a neutral stream.

Oops, don't tell knuckles!...

And reportedly, next year, the Final is off of CBS too.

Some of our traditional basketball fans are living in the past. Thank God for Tom Jurich...

You do realize that over 90% of Americans have some form of cable or satellite subscription?

Thanks for the info, I'm now on the neutral channel. To start with, I tuned into the channel with Chapman offering his biased opinions. I didn't realize the announcer was permitted to be rabidly pro-UK and was on the verge of muting the TV and listening to the game on the radio. It was kind of funny though, Chapman was passionately insisting that Towns was wrongly assessed his second foul when a replay popped up that showed him landing on the UW player's back and also hacking him on the shoulder. Chapman strangely became silent at that point.

That was a good one!

I have to admit I am watching the Pravda broadcast on TNT. I am sorry I missed Tom Leach's "AND KENTUCKY TAKES THEIR BIGGEST LEAD OF THE GAME!!!!!!!!" when the score went from 2-0 TO 5-0.

I read an article saying CBS/TBS and everybody else who broadcasts these games ASSUMED everyone that watches college basketball's got TBS available to them. I think they let college football's decision to broadcast the gridiron Final Four on ESPN influence them (they thought everybody in charge of college football thought every college football fan could catch ESPN).

The UK-Wisconsin game drew highest Final Four ratings in 22 years. Sorry but the data is not backing your hypothesis.

What else has happened in the world the last 22 years?

And what is "my hypothesis" BTW??...

You were suggesting that CBB was trending towards its "demise".

What would you call back to where it was 22 years ago and broadcast mostly on TBS, TNT, and TruTV?

Thank God for Jurich...

Last year was the same way, this is part of the turner contract they signed a few years back. You are right about the highest rating, but it was the highest cable rating. You would be surprised how many people still don't have a regular cable provider. CBS everybody has so it was always available to watch. Those ratings also don't reflect the thousands of people who are at Bars and restaurants watching the game.
