Kind of hoping hum. A little surprising how Carolina handled the Syracuse zone and owned the paint being awful from 3 for most of the game.

Syracuse was overmatched, but they also really screwed themselves with all the missed free throws. Carolina probably wins anyway, but the lousy FT shooting allowed them stay comfortably ahead most of the game.

Not a Carolina fan, but their high post play and interior passing are great weapons against a zone defense. That's usually the best way to pick apart a zone, as opposed to shooting over it.

Carolina was the most talented team all year. Their best is better than everyone else's and if they play close to it they'll win Monday too.

For all the folks who claim a 64(or 68) team field with single elimination doesn't truly recognize the best team in the sport, I would be hard pressed to say that the championship game isn't pitting the best two teams this year. Sparty and Kansas were definitely up there most of the year, but UNC (most athletically talented team) and Nova (most well rounded and experienced) are exactly where they belong. I'm cheering for Nova personally but either team is deserving.

Not sure how you came up with this, because by most metrics out there they definitely haven't been and right now in Kenpom Villanova is number one in the country. Not only that they've been far and away the best team in this tournament. They've also beat some legit teams to make the championship. Carolina's path has been laughable (Indiana is the best team they've played and they just beat a team that finished 10th in the ACC in the semifinal). If both teams play to the max Villanova wins easily, if not Carolina has an advantage, based only on size.

Defense wins championships. Nova held Kansas to 59 points, one of if not the lowest point total all season. Held Oklahoma to 51 points, Buddy Hield only had 9 points on 4 turnovers...If Villanova can stop North Carolina's transition offense, they win.

Villanova will get worn down keeping Carolina off the boards and trying to play great defense. You can't do both all game

Then they have to hope UNC is missing outside shots as well.

And UNC plays much better defense than give credit.

Villanova hasn't faced anything like they will see on Monday night.

Nova just had one of the hottest shooting nights of any team in the last 10 years. Yes if they shoot 65% from 3, 71% from the field and 95% from the line again they'll win but I think some regression to the mean may be in order. Of course great shooting isn't all luck and a lot of that was bolstered by easy run outs when's ou was pressing everything to try to get back in it but they basically have to cool down. They're a great team and I'm not even saying I don't think they'll win, but Carolina has a bevy of bigs that no team can match and now that Paige is hitting shots again, I think they're the most talented team in the country. Ohio state was easily the most talented team in football last year and didn't win because they didn't play their best when they had to. That's all I'm saying, I think it'll be a great game but then again I thought nova ou would be too.

(Edited to correct shooting percentages which were even more outrageous than I thought)

First of no way Nova wins by 15 against the UNC Tarheels, there not the Huskers lol. It will be a great game but UNC has to much talent for Nova and UNC wins it by 7 points and going on a limb and saying UNC never trails in this game.

They already beat a team in the tournament better than Carolina (Kansas).

Carolina was preseason number 1, not Kansas.

And they do not have 4 quality Bigs like NC.

Not saying they can't or won't win. Villanova is definitely capable of that.

Let's just all agree it's gonna be a hell of a game. Hopefully the best one all year, as the CCG should be. Gut says low-scoring tonight! High 50s Low 60s. O/U 112 total.

And then the season played out and Carolina definitely showed they weren't the best team this year going into the tournament

You mean by winning the toughest conference's regular season championship and conference tournament championship by beating Virginia at their own game?

Ok

The best team lost in the first round of the tournament. I think Nova wins tonight, however.

Way off on my O/U, but gut was right about it being one hell of a game, the best one all year!

Saying the same thing I said at the beginning. UNC was playing well coming into the tournament. And that Villanova was capable of beating them.

They shot 58% and needed a game winning shot to win the game. Sounds bout right to me.
