Ladies and Gents, I've been a fan since the time of Danny Ferry. I've seen Duke teams play live in Greensboro (K passing Dean), Charlotte, Winston, and Raleigh. But never at the holy grail mecca of all college basketball. Just curious if anyone has advice on what time to get there or places to eat? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous. Very nervous about it actually, but I am extremely excited! Taking my girlfriend who isn't the biggest sports fan, working on that though! She sorta likes Duke and really hates Carolina, so that's something! I explained to her that tomorrow, for me, is like a devout Catholic going to Vatican City and then getting to listen to a sermon from the Pope in the, Sistine Chapel. That's what it's like going to Cameron tomorrow and seeing K coach live in Cameron. I don't know a better way to express it at this moment. If that makes sense. Or do I sound crazy? Sorry for the rambling post. I am just excited!!!! And I had to share it with the ilk who I felt would give a ****, :D

I'm excited for you and not a wee bit jealous. :D Seriously, I've never been either, so no advice, but I hope you have a wonderful time.

Thanks!!! I've missed out on chances to go over the last few years. I decided it was time to pony up the dough and just go to a game in Cameron. Outside of going to MSG, this is where it's at for basketball.

There are a lot of places to eat. If you want to do some shopping for gear, there are two places on campus that are a must. There is the Nike store. And then the book store. The book store in my opinion has the better selection. I would get on campus at least 3 hours before the game just for shopping, the museum, picture, etc.
Congrats and enjoy!!!

Also there is a kohl’s not far away that had a lot of nice Duke gear.

If you are driving to Cameron, I have always parked across the street at the golf club and never had any trouble with that. Uber may not be a bad idea though

I haven't been for about 10 years but apparently there is more to see inside Cameron than there used to be. So get there at least 1 to 1 1/2 hours early.

I think your first reaction will be that it is much smaller than you expect and the student section is really right on the court!

When Coach K comes out it will be one of the thrills of your life I'm sure.

Enjoy, soak it all in, and take pictures.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions!!! Ate at Pie Pushers downtown. Only then to see that they're the pizza that's sold at CIS. Great pizza at the little restaurant they have. As for finally getting to see a game in Cameron, it was one of the top 5 experiences in my life! My girlfriend ended up really getting into it all. At home, she really seems disinterested in the games. Not last night. It was intense, especially when Pitt started coming back. We both went nuts over Stanley's 3. The whole place was crazy all night. There truly isn't a bad seat in the building. I thought we'd be high up, but we had a terrific vantage point. Before and after the game she bought gear too. I'm so proud! I think we can add her to the fanbase now!

Glad you enjoyed your experience at Cameron. I’ve never been to a game at Cameron but I went to the game against UNCG at the Greensboro Coliseum when Coach K passed Dean Smith for second on the all time wins list. I still can’t believe that it’s been a little over 10 years since I went to that game.

Yeah The Book Store is definitely pricey. I bought a little Duke Girl black dress for my great niece and a little onesie for my great nephew earlier this year and just those 2 things cost me like $50

For me it wasn’t so much the prices but just how many things I bought. I almost had to go buy another suitcase to get the stuff home!

Yeah they do have a huge selection of stuff. I remember awhile back when I had a doctors appointment at Duke and I went downstairs to The Book Store and I saw that they had framed pieces of floor autographed by Coach K and Coach Cutcliffe but I’m not sure if they still have them for sale or not. They were on a shelf behind the counter upfront where you pay for your stuff.

I have one of those pieces of the floor that my daughter got me for Christmas like 15 years ago. It now has Chris Duhons autograph on it

That bookstore bout left me in financial devastation last time I was there!!
Ha! Me too! I was in Raleigh last year for work and took an Uber over to Duke’s campus! I remember not being able to walk around much on campus because of horrible weather, but I went to the Museum and then over to the bookstore and let’s just say I left there spending A TON of money on gear! Lol

If I could afford it I would love to be able to walk around The Book Store for a few hours and buy a bunch of Duke gear but most of the time when I go to The Book Store it’s just to buy a drink and a bag of chips if the gift shop on the first floor is already closed by the time my doctors appointment is over.
