This is the first time I’ve been impressed with Jon since his playing days. He’s starting to feel like the real deal.

Well shoot! I was under the assumption we were just going to promote two guys and kick everyone else to the curb!
Jon is the next Duke coach. It’s the summer, I’m allowed to say it. We talk about it a lot on the podcast this week.

I still want to see more from him in terms of showing tough love, but he’s got the mind for the game itself. His confidence in this clip is just so much better than I’ve seen previously.
I’m sure it’s there... the guy was recruited by K, coached by K, taught by K... but I’m not sure he has been put on a position where we would see that, you know? Cameras in games aren’t going to focus on him, and Duke video won’t show him pissed off...?
And who knows. Maybe his style isn’t “tough love.” Tough love works for some guys and some guys it doesn’t. And tough love looks good on some coaches and t doesn’t on some. The main thing I want out of Jon is to be his own man and coach. If he can be that, which I think he will, he’ll be just fine.
Starting to get that same feeling about Scheyer being the next head coach. Kind of liking the idea. Groom him for the job the next few years, no drop off in recruiting.

I know it more from union work, but I LOVE the "I believe that we will win" chant. (I know it started in sports, but I know it from union work.)
For that matter, what was that song? I like rap, including some pretty profane stuff, but w/ highlight clips I prefer more "wholesome," uplifting stuff like this.
And of course, we have some exciting guys coming in.

What I’d give to have 1/10 the energy they have when I go to the gym.
Great to see them coming together as a team! Excited to see Goldwire this year! Hoping he’ll bring some enthusiasm similar to what we saw in spurts last year. But, if he airballs a layup again I might have to buy a new TV.
