RG-Haynes
RT-Mosier

Leavitt running 2d Team LT, Ramsey Meyers not on the field. Interesting.

Got them backwards, Meadows and Adseo right, Mosier and Haynes left.

For those that taped games last year, go back and watch Meadows block at right tackle. Dude was SLOW! I remember ends going around him almost untouched. Either he improved a boatload or UK is screwed at tackle.

GBB!!!

Then you don't know left from right.

L to R was Mosier/Haines/JT/GAA/ Meadows. Just how hard is it?

You might check out Alex Forkner too.
Think he prefers to argue...

If Mosier, a natural OG, is forced AGAIN to play T and LT at that....UK's indeed screwed.

Have read Meadows improved his strength and size, FWIW.

Mosier is indeed running with the ones at LT so if the initial post referencing Jones is correct, then Matt had it backwards. I expect Tate to overtake Cole at that spot before spring practice is over. Those overly concerned by our depth at tackle, it's a bit too late for that at this point but bear in mind that Landon, who was at practice, will be able to suit up and could start or back up at either tackle spot in the fall.

Yeah that walk on guy, Landon Young, will be here in the fall. I think he can play a little. :)
Tackle play will be MUCH improved this year. I expect the entire oline to be much better honestly. Just need to play together.

We will get better at LT before season starts, but Mosier continues to impress. Former walk-on that seems to be the best utility player at our OL. I think center is the only position he hasn't played. We cannot underestimate the value Mosier brings to the team.

Do not get the praise for Mosier, I saw him get beat like a rented Mule last season, Meadows and Leavitt need to be the tackles. Mosier seems best suited for guard.

So we've established who ran with the ones, who were the 2d teamers? I saw Leavitt mentioned, also Stenberg was mentioned at one of the OGs, assume Zach Myers at C...so who else?

From someone making pronouncements demonstrably false. What would I blow? Please explain. How do you know I don't root for LV & Duke? I like ***.

We are moving in the right direction, the fans seem more confused than the coaches for a change, that is a good thing....I think. Before anyone gets mad this is intended as a joke:)

I know I certainly don't. It's difficult to fully form an argument or comment on a message board.

Being a college athlete is a learning process. Fans want freshmen and sophomores to play like pros, but it doesn't work that way. For those criticizing the 2015 play of sophomores Mosier and Meadows, consider that players usually show improvement between sophomore and junior years. With linemen, improvement comes with better footwork, strength, and craft. I think Meadows is 1 of the most improved players on our team, and he will benefit in Gran's offense. The spring is a time for fundamentals and experimentation. Good coaches often start with returning players manning top roles. Newcomers must beat out returners. It isn't just a matter of loyalty. It's smart locker room politics too. It isn't a big deal who gets listed as starters in March. Tate Leavitt was recruited to be a 2016 starting tackle. By September, Mosier will not be playing ahead of Leavitt, or else someone didn't do a very good scouting job with that scholarship. You don't need a crystal ball to see that Leavitt, Meyers, Toth, GAA, Meadows have the most predictable pathways forward to start in September. The big question in August will be whether the coaches decide to play Landon Young in 2016. In simple terms, that would mean Young is already so much better than either Leavitt or Meadows that 1 of them ought to sit behind Young in 2016. Most of our fans already believe this is true because of the 5 stars, but spring practice can sometimes be a difference maker. So this is the most interesting question to watch.

Very good post, thanks. In addition, a lot of fans are going to want Drake to play right away, but I can't see that happening unless he just absolutely kills it in fall camp and/or Toth gets hurt(God forbid).

So, jumping ahead to this fall theoretically we could have a starting OL lineup of players rated a 5.9, a 5.7, a 5.8 (Drake), a 5.7, and a 6.1 (Young). Quite an upgrade over our great offense in 07 with an OL that averaged LESS than a 5.2 on Rivals recruiting Richter Scale-----from below a 5.2 to 5.84------probably among the top two or three in the nation. We may have to wait a year, but it should happen.

Of course that won't happen in 16, experience and underrated ability will prevent it, (a fifth year two star Remington candidate for instance), but still an unbelievable improvement in overall talent. AND an upgrade (ratings wise) at EVERY other position, the 5.8 QB by a 5.9, the 5.6 RB by a 5.8 and a 5.9, the two 5.5 WRs and a 5.4 and 4.9 playing a lot replaced with several four stars AND probably better 5.6's and 5.7's, and a 5.5 TE replaced by a VERY promising four star. And you don't even want to look at the ratings of the backups in 07, our depth was always a huge problem.

I know, it doesn't mean anything yet, but Stoops upgrade in talent is simply unbelievable. Hopefully the upgrade in coaching experience AND upgrades will catch up with the talent upgrade soon. And better talent can make coaches improve overnight.

Wow, I think we need to let the players practice and work and let the coaches coach. Predicting who will start based on a recruiting ranking or watching a young kid play 12 months earlier is likely to be inaccurate. Kids grow, improve and either thrive or step back when in competition regardless of what they showed in prior situations. OL and QB must be the two hardest positions to predict in recruiting football prospects. OL grow and mature so much from the age of 17-22 it is just hard to say who will have a big season in 6 months. It certainly sounds like coach Schlarman's recruiting and player development are about to pay off in a big way despite a number of expert posters who wanted him fired after each of the last two seasons. Good for him and good for us.

GAA is playing on the left side now. You need two guards. Mayers has been their best guard the past couple of years. If he doesn't start someone else has to step up.

Ramsey has never impressed me. He's part of the reason our OL was so bad the last two years. I hope GAA replaces him.
RM may have been a small part of the issues, but the main issues were at the ends of the OL & possibly the O scheme. Those guys tried but just couldn't get it done.
